We managed to have a bit of an off month and not much got done. However we are still on schedual and are accepting applications for testers.

What’s up?

Hello once again ModDB! There’s not much to talk about this month, so let’s get down to what everyone wants to hear about!

Testers! Like I said last month, we are ready to start taking in testers for Lift; in order to get more opinions and information on how our game works, we need more people! The following are things we want to see in our testers, so please read through and only apply if you think you meet the requirements.

- All Lift testers must have a computer running Windows XP/Vista/ 7.
- Testers must have experience with PC gaming; if you find using W A S D controls strange and prefer arrow keys, this game is probably not for you.
- Testers must be able to communicate regularly with our coordinators via E-mail.
- Testers should have a good understanding of the anime Eureka Seven. (Loving it is a plus)
- Having experience in game design is a plus but not required; we just need you to be able to understand what we are talking about.
- Testers will be required to work with our content tracking system to post bugs and reports. (You will be shown how to do this)
- Testers should be respectful to the team and other testers.
- Testers will NOT be able to share information, media, or anything else with anyone that is not part of the Lift team or tester team. Applying for a tester position means that you agree to this.

That's all folks; pretty easy, huh? If you think you fit this list of requirements, please e-mail our testing coordinator at . Simply send us your contact information with a brief description of yourself and an explanation of why you want to test for us. Keep in mind we will be looking for people who have been with us for a long time, and we are only looking for a handful of testers. The selected testers will be posted in next month’s news post!

This month!

Like I said before, we didn't get much done this month. We were all quite busy outside of Lift, and hopefully will be less so next month. As you can probably see already, there are some new images and a video up on ModDB; these were posted during the time between news posts, so remember to check back every now and then to see the new stuff we post.

Last month we made a request for modelers and animators. We managed to fill all of our animator slots, but none of our modeler slots. This is a good turnout, considering we really needed animators! We’re in the process of getting them settled in, so there should be a much faster turnout of content soon.

I do feel a bit bad that we don't have any media to release this month, so here's a little snippet of game play to hopefully hold you guys over until the next news release.

All things except "Testers should have a good understanding of the anime Eureka Seven.", but that's why we have google :P

Other than that I'd be more than willing to help test this, at least till the end of summervacation.

Don't worry. I think there are only a few people who've been around for a long time but aren't on the dev team. Tech started out as a fan but now he's on the team so I don't think he counts. So that leaves like, two or three people I think. Everyone else would have to be relatively new.

Or they just stalk from the shadows and wait for the opportune moment to strike out at the team. :P

Hell I've been following Lift for 2 years now. I'm just not as active as most.

so is this game like Gunz the duel but with an armored core like characters???

Techercizer Jun 12 2010 replied:

Err, it's a bit more complicated than that; it's like an Eureka Seven video game.

having played both Gunz and Armored Core, i can safely say its nothing like either. its not even remotely close to Gunz gameplay.

also, on a side not, Gunz sucked

Gunz was fun like the first 10 levels...then everyone did thatr stupid butterfly thing with the sword. Armored Core....bleh, the new games lost their touch. I like all of the ones up till the third. This game has potential. Whether you want to shoot someone guys out of the sky, or just fly around on a board. Cant wait ^^

Hopefully, you guys will work on making the gameplay more smoother to view, because most of the time, the green trapar can blind your screen if you do flips or something... Maybe find a way to hide the particle effects when your camera is too close to it or something.

It can be a bit cool if you can enable a optional fixed camera onto the LFO, so if you flip upside down, your camera is upside down.

I'm pretty good at analyzing games, but I think I also realized that I can't program or model/animate as well because of that (I think i found my weakspot). I'm good at "seeing" it, but I can't really craft it... LOL, maybe this is why computer programmer is boring me... I prefer to test and analyze games over making them (even though I have a ton of ideas in my head).

the camera can be zoomed so far out that its difficult to see your LFO. I personally like to play that close.

As far as the camera following your moves and going upside down, it does do that for when you are on trapar and you haven't moved your mouse for a few seconds, having it follow you when you flip around and stuff (off trapar) is a sickening experience. Picture what you see when you do a front flip in real life, thats what it looks like in game. so naturally we didnt incorporate it.

I'd test for you guys, I'm a beta tester for FOOK2 for Fallout 3, the only prereqs I fall short on are the regular contact (college is a bitch that way), and I need to brush up on the show (been forever since I've last seen it, But what I do remember is awesome!)...

I've been supporting the mod for ages. I always told myself to watch E7 but I never got around to it and ended up somewhat outgrowing anime.

It's unfortunate that I won't be able to apply for beta testing, I had fun testing for other games, the community is usually best during that phase ^^

I sent my application as soon as I saw this post haha. I fit every last part of the list too so here's hoping I get in :D

I would beg you guys to accept me, but hey, it goes against my motto: "Don't beg for things, do it yourself, or else you wont get anything"

Just out of curiosity though, was every application read and considered? Or was the application inbox flooded? lol
