KarBOOM 0.3 is on the way
This video demonstrates the different surfaces that will be available in the upcoming level editor: dirt, ice, tar, pits, and grass (which, of course, cars are severely allergic to).
Other working features (not shown due to their extreme ugliness at this stage of development) include conveyor-accelerated ramps, bridges, barriers and platforms.
As always, this will be free for download and offline play. Online play requires a premium account at KarBOOM.net, which is normally $5 USD, but there are still some free upgrades available on a first-come first-served basis.
The latest public version (0.2.4) can be downloaded at KarBOOM's downloads page here on IndieDB/ModDB.
Find more information at KarBOOM's official forum. Follow @JibbSmart (that's me) for regular info and screenshots as I continue to work on this huge update.
Thanks to Ben Smart, my youngest brother, for regularly testing it with me and driving the orange car in this video.
The gameplay looks very fluent! Nice work guys!
Thank you! It's just me working on it.
Haha this looks like it could be pretty fun. :D
any tracks coming or will it be more "arena-like" maps?
Tracks are planned for the future, but will be a LOT of work, so I'm sticking with arena-battles for now.
Brilliant its like destruction derby and micro machines. keep it up.
Ooh, it's starting to look really fun!
Chaos. This game will have it.
At least I think so :P
The Shadow of the ! looks strange , you sould delete the shadow for the !.
Rest looks cool
I hope there is going to be an awesome soundtrack to accompany all the buzzing around. Lookin' good, I like the subtle reflections on the ice surface, very nice.
I do hope to have a soundtrack in the next update, but I might not. I have some experience in music, and I hope I can come up with something good, but it might end up just taking too much time to be worth it. We'll see how that goes.
For now I'm focusing on visuals to make the game more marketable (screenshots and videos), then I'll continue with important features that haven't been finished yet (such as the level editor), and then music.
I love this game!!!!
