This is the induction post for the return of the monthly updates by Team Dystopia. As promised, monthly community updates are returning. This month, the team decided to show of the new art assets that have been completed in the last months. We're playing catch-up, not necessarily all these models were finished recently, but they're all packed full of awesome. First the new Vaccine Core-Cooling Modules, that have made a small appearance in the forums before. When played in-game, there’s definitely a better atmospheric quality with these models.
Next the Silo Mobile Battery-Powered Illumination Units (M.B.I.U.) Everyone knows that Silo takes place in an abandoned missile silo, but these little gems add more to the story. The corps are there for launching a missile, not restoring this Silo. So they set up temporary lights.
Assemble makes a come back with its new models. Included is the server room ceiling wires and the weapons-carrier crates.
Last, but not least, everyone's favourite destructible server racks from Fortress have received a facelift. This model replaces the currently blotchy white looking server racks.
We hope you enjoy the new art, it definitely looks beautiful when you're fighting your brutal enemies. If you live long enough. We would like to thank everyone that has participated in the Dystopia Competition so far. Regretfully, we are going to call an end to all portions of the competition except mapping due to the small number of contributions to the other parts. The dates for the competition have been extended to give the mappers more time to polish and finish their maps. The new dates are as follows:
- February 24th, the competition will end.
- February 25th voting on the entries will begin and voting ends
- March 9th with the winners being announced
- March 16th and eventual inclusion in our next release!
One last thing, we'd like to take this time to give a spotlight to two maps in the Dystopia competition by showing them off to the community. First dys_desert by Remonttimies and secondly dys_tower by DarkFalcon, very promising maps by talented level designers!
Look forward to our first upcoming dev podcast interview with the developers of two of the upcoming maps, exodus and injection. Come back and see us in a month when we take a look at what areas have changed with our old favorites. Perhaps a look at the enigmatic killing machine: the airlock.
Awesome news and awesome screens, spread the love - Digg.com it!
