Comet, also known as "star of Pripyat":

An exceedingly rare artifact, only one of these was reported to have been found. The scientist camp that came into possession of this object studied it, and found it to have restorative properties on various organisms. Its physical characteristics are that of a bright, green glowing orb, leaving trails of light as it moves. The anomaly that formed this object is not currently known, but is speculated to be one of the several moving types, it could also be an object that was formed much earlier, either with, or shortly after the creation of the Zone.

Unfortunately, the research camp that studied this artifact was destroyed, the only survivors being the guards who are rumored to have stolen it, and taken it with them North, towards the center.

Candle:
A highly volatile artifact, a waxy, spongiform mass that ignites and explodes when exposed to extreme heat, or electrical shock. It is not currently known what anomaly produces this artifact, and it is speculated that it is formed out of a hybrid process, though it retains similar physical characteristics to whirligig-based formations. Chemically, it is very different to the composition found in its suspected family from the whirligig family. It has few, if any, beneficial properties.

This particular artifact is sought after mostly by scientists working for defense research firms. Per gram, candle has 1.5 times more explosive energy than cyclonite (RDX,) and this is even with its spongiform low density. Attempts are being made to test candle in a compressed state, as well as a method to plasticize it, there is also research being done on how this artifact is produced by its anomalous parents, and to produce this artifact under laboratory conditions, which would make it a potential candidate for a new variety of military explosive.

As it stands, candle is seen as not being cost effective for current weapon systems, but if it can be manufactured under controlled conditions for lower costs, then it has potential for applicable use.

I like these ideas very much, one question, are you implying that Candle will greatly decrease the wearer's resistance to explosives? Or that if worn on the belt, is liable to explode under certain circumstances... like a nearby grenade showering the strelok with love and fire?

I suppose you're not intending on releasing the actual usage of the artifact over the forum, but rather saving the surprise for the player. Which is also fine.
