Attention ZombieMod fans,

It is our pleasure to elaborate on the hint posted recently. ZombieMod will indeed be featuring Bandits as a playable faction with release. While they still have a long way to go, they will be an independent faction from the Survivors, and will be an enemy of survivors, zombies, and themselves.

In the darkest days after the initial infection, groups of survivors banded together to protect themselves from the undead and the elements. However, as time went on, these groups became hostile towards each other and other people. As the survivors, backed by the military, attempt to liberate the rest of the former United States, they face fierce resistance from bandit groups who are intent on retaining their power.

Bandits will be implemented via game modes that will swap them with the two standard factions (Survivors and Zombies), meaning that you cannot have Survivor + Bandit vs Zombies, or Zombies + Bandits vs Survivors, etc. If we see fit, we may make them a reward faction if this works better.

The Bandits will be a full faction, with three unique doctrines, their own tech tree, structures, and unique units. They will excel in asymmetrical warfare, using smaller numbers to take on the zombies and the survivors and will present a truly unique playstyle.

On an unrelated note, we would like to make a quick little advertisement. If you play DayZ, the "official ZombieMod server" is now online! There is a link in the mod's profile, as well as a link to the server's steam group.

"Mercinaries" would have been bland, since they are basiclly soldiers for hire and wouldn't fit into the "third faction with no allies" idea. They would have been just another augumentaion to the Survivor forces.

And it is spelled "mercenaires", not "mercinaries".

Zombies aren't "factionalized", they are a group, a living force that does not distinguish a CoC or a leader. They only band together to hunt for the living and thus it would be hard to create an another zombie faction with meaning. Surely it would have been easy to let's say, create a second zombie faction this time composed of infected military men rather then the current amalgation of civilians, medical personnel and soldiers, but then the problem arises when trying to create a backstory. More plausible it would be to create an unfriendly, black operations style faction based on vCoH Panzer Elite which main objective would have been data gathering on the infection spread & lethality.

Hey I know, this isn't a part of the bandit faction or anything, but have you thought of the zombies being able to play "dead"? Be a nice trick to play on them living humans.

You could use the camo/hide skill and instead of being invisible it's a stationary mass of bodies(if more than 1 zombie in the group) texture wise and when someone gets too close they disengage the skill and attack kinda like how if enemies get to close to your sniper he's "revealed" and usually killed...only they actually would disengage it(not sure how you would force the disengage completely but yeah...)
