Zer0 mod for Half-Life 2

Zer0 is a multiplayer modification for Valve's Source™ engine. Its primary feature is the complete removal of gravity, and the concepts of up and down typically accociated with it. All gameplay takes place in null-gravity environments, with opposing teams battling it out in diverse, objective-based gameplay.

Zer0 uses a clever objective system which is controlled fully by the mapper. This system allows a large number of game modes to be implemented- anything from assault-style play, akin to the Assault mode of Unreal Tournament, to Push Play like Day of Defeat, or a simple King of the Hill game- all without needing to update Zer0 itself.

Zer0 features two distinct teams. The Order of Terra rose from the ashes of a ravaged Earth, toppling the former United Earth Government. They worship the Earth as a mother goddess and wage war to protect Her and destroy the Zeros, whose beliefs the Order sees as heretical. The Zeros are descended from colonists sent out by the United Earth Government in a last attempt to save the Human race. The fleet of colony ships traveled for generations at sub light speeds to a new home, only to find their destiny stolen: the Order, having developed faster than light travel during the long journey of the colony fleet, had arrived centuries before them. The events that followed set the stage for Zer0's style and environments.

Each team features a different play style. The Order relies on stalwart grunts to hold ground and support troops to lay down volleys of suppressive fire. Focusing on holding ground once they've captured it, they take ground slowly but surely. Speed and confusion are the primary advantages of the Zeros. The Zeros have had generations to adapt to life in null gravity, and can move quickly and comfortably in these environments. They rely on speed and flanking to outmaneuver their slower foes.
