Galactic - Class Battle Carrier Prototype
The Dodonna
Develeoped at the end of the Vong war, the Galactic Class was the first official warship designed exclusively by Kuat Drive yards for the New Republic. At 1600 m it was just as long as an Imperial Star Destroyer MK2, yet much more powerful. Armed with 3 Heavy ion turrets, 10 medium dual ion turrets, heavy tractor beams, a multitude of heavy and medium turbolasers, missile launchers and beam lasers the ship was also protected by heavy kuati armor, dual shield generators and 2 massive hanger bays capable of holding 4 squadron of fighters 2 CR90's while performing mid battle repairs.
1 time build hero unit, the Dodonna was designed to turn the tide of any battle.

A CR90 can easily fit inside the hanger, I just checked, so instead of the standard compliment of 10 fighter squadrons, im going to give it 4 squadrons and 2 corvettes, because a capital ship that can give birth to smaller capital ships is just badass.
How are you doing that? If it's done the normal way, the CR90 will just hyperspace in and it won't look right.
yeah, we will have to make a special "hangar spawn" version...
You don't have to, just set it with the parameters of a fighter and it'll come out the bay.
Would the CR90 still behave like a corvette in that case? To make my point as clear as possible to the creator of ORAW, CR90s should behave like Foray Gunships, not Fury-class interceptors... see?
Then in that case there might be a way, but I never tried it. If you have it moving like the Fury you could do it, that I know for sure, any other way perhaps, but never tried.
That is indeed pretty badass.
Maybe you could do this for one or two of the larger vong ships as well?
Of course then the Dodonna's ability wouldn't be that special anymore, but imho the idea of a capital ship spawning corvettes is just too awesome to only use it for one ship which you can also only build once...
And I think it fits the Vong quite well.

today we withness one of the universe wonders: the miracle of birth. here we see the mother, a Galactic - Class Battle Carrier we have givven the name: Dodonna. right now she is making a cozy nest in a nebula. now watch as the mothers troopers enter the foetus and warm up the engines. the foetus takes off, goes to the forcefield and... yes! the universe has a new born corvette. tune in next week to intergalactical geographic to see the life cycle of an asteroid!

I love this ship, how many of them can be produced? I want to make them become my NR Fleet of Flagships, along with Nebula SDs :)
Only 1, it is a hero ship, giving fleet commander bonuses.
It is about as strong as 2 ISD2.
It can also jam missiles due to an advanced radar array above the bridge.
Available only at Kuat.

As far as I know this ship is completely fanon. It´s great to see how you implement some of the fanon designs but still ceep the mod canon, as far as I can tell. I never got really used to this design, but I think yours isn´t as bulky as other moddels of it are so I´ll give it a chance ;)

OK, OK, my fault. I was referring to the model, not the ship-class. But I thought you took the model and designed a fitting ship-class for it, but it´s obviously the other way round. You took the ship-class and made a fitting model for it. But that´s what I like about this mod. There are a lot of ships which are roughly described in the books, but there is no canon design existing. So you look around and implement fanon models which look fitting for those ships, make your own one and put a ceratin amount of creativity in it so it looks even cooler than before ;)

Yeah sadly since ol' JJ is at the helm of the new SW Movies, and Disney now has a new "committee" to decide what in the Extended Universe is Canon or not.
It's sad Really because the E.U. Is what got me into Star wars, not the movies. ((Thrawn Trilogy, Truce at Bakura, Darksaber, Tales from Jabba's Palace))
The X-Wing series is a must read as well. Shows the terror a pilot faces when Lancers and Star Detroyers show up and a taste of just how hard to kill a Star Dreadnaught is
Yeah, that's the case for quite a number of ships of this era both from the Vong fleet and otherwise - they have descriptions but no images! It does allow for great artistic licence though ;)
That "Committee" can go **** it self, the books are canon whether they say so or not.
I welcome the non canon stuff as it gives us more free will to do what we want and besides the movies aren't bad yet...

Rejuvenator class was posted a few pics back, this is the Galactic Class as envisioned by Drone.
This mod is an homage to the novels. No matter what is deemed cannon or not, we are bringing the story of the Vong to life, since it may sadly never make it to cinema. No matter what the new movies bring or don't bring, the written books will always remain and cannot be changed. Our goal is to recreate a universe bases around these tales. The authors were not as diligent in tier research of lore , so many gaps and holes exist without explanation. I have done my best to fill in these blank spots with general ideals and believable fannon to create a balanced gaming environment.
We love all the support, questions and discussions, but to create a complete and balanced game, we are adding content where simply non exixisted before. We are not just crating a mod, we are completing a universe before it is lost forever.

I have just one question about description:

Does that mean it will slowly regenerate over time if it's damaged? That would be really awesome (for other capital ships too)!

How strong is it compared to the imperial allegiance class since both are kuati and stronger than the isd ii?
Stronger I imagine - the Allegiance-class is an ageing design in this era and still shares many similarities with the ISD, it's just... bigger?
Just from an unofficial standpoint, I think that it should be like the Nebula-Tector relationship in ICW. one-on-one, the Tector can defeat the Nebula, but the fighters that the Nebula has (combined with the Tector's lack of fighters) means the Tector will lose in most combat situations without the proper support. The same with the Alliegance (stronger, but very vulnerable to small ships) and the Dodonna (weaker, but has a fighter/bomber/corvette compliment).
I agree with that analogy. The Galactic class and allegiance are both pegged at around 1.5 times the mass of an ISD so they should be comparable but the Allegiance is built just for ship combat while the Galactic has a large hangar so making the Allegiance better in ship to ship combat makes sense but if the bombers are included the Galactic class is superior. Still you can make it however you want because I also agree with Afro-yoda-ninja in that it is a much newer and more technologically advanced design and therefore could be better in a fight. Oh nice model by the way :)
