So, this is the idea for the Grutchin Torpedo. With its rather massive size for a torpedo (corvette-cruiser sized), this weapon can be fired by only the largest vessels of the Yuuzhan Vong fleet. The tip is covered by a membrane resistant to energy weapons so it safely detonates first after the contact with a capital ship´s hull releasing acid which devours a hole into enemy armor, followed by the impact of the torpedo rocky remains. And finally the crash opens the shells carrying zounds of Grutchins or Turfhoppers which form a deadly cloud, eating everything in their range...

So aside from heavily damaging a capital ship, these things will also produce a large Grutchin minefield of adult grutchins which will damage any metal ship that passes through it.
We will be experimenting with trying to make the torpedo targetable/destroyable also. It will move about the same speed as a y-wing and if destroyed, the Grutchin minefield will not be deployed.
Note: other ships release juvenile Grutchins that only attack fighters

they did succeed in the novels, but the price of victory was "salty" they have had disorbtited Coruscant and destroyed many planets during the conflict. I didnt mention the vong had vong-formed many others. The capital of the GA was moved to Denon, a Coruscant-like planet in the south est of the Core Worlds. Sorry about my english btw :)
Resistant to energy weapons, but what about missiles and torpedoes? Can these be destroyed before they strike the target or intercepted by less vital ships?
well, they are corvette/cruiser sized, and i know that at least in the Phoenix Rising Mod, targets need to be Corvette sized or larger, so i imagine that they are capable of being taken by Torpedoes. and im pretty sure that a couple of blasts from the Octuple guns from an ISD-2 could take it out
Only the head acid capsule is energy weapon resistant.
In our description of how the torpedo works, the acid capsule releases its contents that dissolve both then enemy ship hull and the armored shell-like container pods (full of grutchins). The meteor body of the torpedo can sustain damage from turbolaser fire. This explanation is what justifies the torpedo to be destroyed without releasing a spill of grutchins everywhere. As we make models, we attempt to justify everything so that all is believable.
While the Grutchin Torpedo is destroyable, it is very heavily armored and moves as fast as a y-wing. Turbolasers are not always able to track objects moving that fast...
Can it track targets, or does it only fly in a straight line?
The torpedo is a "living weapon", it will home in on its target.

well if that's the case will i be able too electrically charge the hull of my ship too kill the pests? lol
