Defender - Class Assault Carrier image - Yuuzhan Vong at War mod for Star Wars: Empire at War: Forces of Corruption
Behold the Yuuzhan Vong Army! This mod adds the Yuuzhan Vong Race as a playable faction and all units of this era. We are a community of modders working for the greater goal, so anyone who wants to help or support us is welcome!
Following the protocol of the New Republic Modernization Program, the Defender was made of modular components similar to the Majestic Class cruiser, thus allowing for fast and easy repairs by using similar parts. The Defender was an assault carrier, tasked with flying into the thick of battle, deploying its squadrons and and being able to assist defend them while under heavy attack. The Defender featured heavy armor similar to the Majestic, strong shields and fast cruising speeds. It was capable of carrying 4 squadrons of fighters and allowed for repair services while in the thick of battle. The only drawback to the Defender was it's lack of heavy weapons, for the ship served as large armored AA platform, featuring 13 dual laser turrets and 4 fast tracking AA blaster turrets.

Yodas Top Tip: Don't do what I did and read the description, then not scroll down enough and look very closely at the Majestic model to try to spot some differences... facepalm...

Great models. I'm glad I can see some of the Majestic in this model because if you look at those Cracken's Threat pictures the Majestic and Defender look nothing alike. Great job!
Is there any specific reason that we're being told the ships are made out of the same parts? Are we going to have to manually repair our damaged ships or something?

It's nothing to be concerned about in-game, it's just a nice bit of canon history that the modellers, in particular Strobe, have incorporated into the mod :)
Basically right, when the Alliance was in its early years, most of their cruisers were converted Mon Calamari passenger liners. The Mon Cals, being very aesthetic ship designers, handmade all their ships, and no two of them were alike. This, as you might imagine, made them an absolute pain in the **** to repair since parts were unique to specific ships, and they were all wired differently.
When the New Republic gained more resources and shipyards, and began to update their fleets with the New Class Fleet Modernisation Program thing, they decided that all their ships would be made out of modular components to make repairs cheaper, quicker, more efficient and generally better, since they were sick of Mon Calamari engineers messing with their minds...
Ok, I take that first bit back... Strobe is planning something pleasantly surprising... ;)
