So is this good against things like escorts?

The ship will deploy many fighters and bombers for the Vong. It has weapons, but only low-grade weaker weapons, so it will be able to fend off corvettes and frigates, but anything cruiser class and up it will not do well against.

It looks well but it is very 2D.

Yeah you're right, pictures are usually 2D...though, I have a 3D-monitor, but I'm not using it. Additionally, we haven't prepared a 3D-2nd layer picture, so there won't be any 3D-effect even if you have a 3D-compatible monitor. Sorry, our fault.
If you are referring to the flatness: If I see it correctly, this ship is even a bit thicker than the ones in the source .

to Quote Wiki, and the NJO Novels:

Characteristics

The A-vek Iiluunu fighter carrier appeared to be a flat, ovoid stone, from which protruded a number of spindly, branch-like appendages.

Unless I'm mistaken, a "flat ovoid stone" is not really 3D...

Oh it is. It does have a third dimension, like any object which exists. You just can't catch the third dimension in an image ;)
And a very flat OBJECT has still a third dimension, otherwise it's not a real object. 2D are only abstract versions of our life.

You know. Nomada should be the expert on what looks 2d or not. Afterall, he deemed bumpmaps as superfulous and unnecessary for the first few years he was modding because he thought they didnt add anything to the model. And as we all know, Nomada has been so reliable throughout all these years ;D

Side comment. Solid model and textures. Photosourced for any of those textures?

Description

The A-vek Iiluunu fighter carrier appeared to be a flat, ovoid stone, from which protruded a number of spindly, branch-like appendages. Each of these projections was used to carry Coralskippers, the equivalent compliment of a New Republic Endurance-class fleet carrier.

Although the fighter carrier was armed with 20 yaret-kors and several dovin basal projectors, it was not designed as a warship. After releasing its starfighter wings into combat, the A-vek Iiluunu would retreat to the edge of the battlezone, providing support for the larger vessels.

It also served as a mothership for any returning fighters needing to be rejuvenated before heading back into the fray. At the end of a battle, the A-vek Iiluunu would recall its coralskippers, and any remaining fighters 'orphaned' from their original mothership.
