The Xenoforce Reborn mod takes the classic Xenoforce mod from CNC Generals and re-invisions it on the CNC3 engine with new units and new designs. The new armies that are currently scheduled to be in the mod are the Earth Federation, ZEON, the Invid, and the Earth Robotech Defense Force. We also have heavily modified the original CNC3 armies, giving the GDI, NOD, and Scrin a much more dynamic gameplay experience. This mod is NOT FOR PROFIT and NON-commercial based.

So I'm working on simplifying the SEED design. Starting with basic units I question a lot of things.

First, is there really a need to make the Daggers and Dagger L's seperate units? I could easily make it an upgrade to turn Daggers into Dagger L's. That means you would have the Dagger, Jet Dagger, and Launcher Dagger and an upgrade would turn the Dagger and Jet Dagger into Dagger L and Jet Dagger L. The Doppelhorn Dagger L would still be it's own unit.

Second with the Launcher Dagger and the Slaughter Launcher, again this could be done as an upgrade and not require a whole separate unit.

On the Gundam side there are just as many "units" that in reality with this design many would not ever see use. If it takes 2 minutes to build a teir 1 Gundam, 3 to build a teir 2, 4 to build a teir 3 and 5 to build a teir 4 then your talking about 42 minutes to build one of each unit in a game. Thats too long.

I think the Gundams that you get should fit with the "design" system. I'm thinking about a central building that you build for SEED. We'll call it the Diplomatic Relations structure. In this structure there would be 4 "upgrades" much like what NOD uses with their doctrines. Depending on what "ally" you pick you get different gundams AND different powers for support. But unlike NOD you can change your mind and change allies (with a 4 minute timer or something of course).

So if you start the game you have access to just one ally, the ArchAngel. You pick that upgrade and you can drop the Archangel down onto the map. This will also drop in Strike Gundam and Morbius Zero. As you drop in structures / advance in the force you will have access to other allies. If you change allies you will lose your current ones on the field (so no Archangel and Dominion on the same team!).

Each ally that you choose will come with 1 Super Unit (in our example the Archangel) and at least 2 or more Hero units. The Ally will also have a structure dedicated to them that you can place when you get them. So for the Archangel it could be a "Heliopolis Research Center". Here is a key point. This building will have it's own "upgrades" that a player can persue that will upgrade their allies giving them access to greater powers. So if you have your Acrhangel down and the Heliopolis Research Center finish's it's "Freedom" tech research the Archangel will now deploy Freedom from it. If you DO shift your ally to a different faction the Research Facility will stay, meaning you can continue to do archangel research even though you no longer have access to the Archangel. And when you shift back you will have all the advantages of that tech!

The alliances I'm thinking of are "Archangel/Three Ship", "Dominion/Blue Cosmos", and "Orb Research"

Research can of course effect your normal forces. if you go with Blue Cosmos you'll have the option to research "Phantom Pain" units. This would upgrade basic units that are eligable for "Phantom Pain" upgrades to receive them like the Launcher Dagger. It would also give you the ability to build Slaughter Swords and Slaughter Aile's.

Thoughts?

Turning the ground and air type Daggers into Avatar based unit upgrades would save room in the building tabs.

The rest of the stuff is pretty solid.

How goes the progress?
