In June 2002, a website was created in the Operation Flashpoint Community. This site, titled The World War II Engineer Corps, was designed as a HUB for all the WW2 addons floating around the community. WW2EC has grown a lot and has since become a large hobbiest group, which produces many historically accurate addons for the Operation Flashpoint Community. The following is an outline of our policies:

Goals:
There are many goals that WW2EC works to achieve. The first goal is to provide WW2 addons. We also, however, want to be a home for anyone interested in World War 2 and gaming. There is always someone from the team around to provide help with editing tips or any kind of advice. The WW2EC site is designed to be the headquarters for all things and all people interested in WW2 and Operation Flashpoint.

Structure:
WW2EC is NOT a regular MOD Team! WW2EC is a united group of addon makers. The team consists of hobbiest and people with real life duties who merely wish to share their work with others. The "business", promotional, and coordination activities of the team are handled by three democratically elected administrators. The three admins work together on topics ranging from recruitment and mergers to website features. Elections are held whenever an admin steps down or when a majority of the team calls for one. The admins, however, do NOT control the work of any team member. The members of WW2EC are free to work on any projects they wish as long as they make noticable effort in completing a WW2 addon or they benefit the team in some way. Team members are free to get help from any sources within the team or without. All addons are released at WW2EC, but are credited to the true author.

Joining:
When someone makes a request to join WW2EC, the merits of the applicant are discussed by all three admins. It is only after all admins (and sometimes members) have their word in, that a decision is reached. At least two admins must agree before any action is taken. WW2EC members are never told what to make or when to have it finished. Upon acceptance, the member will be given a WW2EC Staff identification tag in the forum, will be added to the staff list, and will have access to the WW2EC resources.

Mergers:
Another mod team may request a merger at any time. However, the merger proposition will be discussed at length by the team and action will only be taken after a unamimous agreement by the admins. Upon acceptance of the request, the mod team will become a division of WW2EC, the members will become WW2EC members, and the former leaders of the team must agree to terms with the admins of WW2EC. If you wish to be in total control of your team members DO NOT APPLY for a merger. Once part of WW2EC, the new division will have access to WW2EC resources and possible help from any available WW2EC members.

Ethics:
Most WW2EC addons are completely original. However, it's not always efficient to "re-invent the wheel." In the event that a WW2EC member decides to modify someone else's work, permission is always requested from the original authors, even if they happen to be WW2EC members. Only with the authorization of the original author will a modified addon be released. WW2EC also asks the same be applied to us. If you wish to modify our work in anyway, please contact the original author of the addon. If the author is unavailable you may also contact one of the WW2EC admins who will relay the request to the original author.

Releases:
WW2EC Members are free to release addons whenever they wish. Many times addons are released just as soon as they are finished. Sometimes when several team members are working on related addons, the release will be delayed and the addons will be compiled in one pack. the decision is up to the authors of the addons. Addons worked on by a lone member or someone who just got help with small details, may use the addonmaker's TAG. Addons worked on by a big group like a pack or something similar, may use the team TAG (ECA, EC, or WW2EC). All we ask is that the files carry a link to the site in the readme, and an allow us to get the file on our site first.

Addon Coding:
One problem with addons is making them compatible. Currently, WW2EC is developing a set of formulas, titled the ww2cpp project, to aid in the coding addons. The ww2cpp project should allow for a more realistic battlefield. All WW2EC releases will be using these formulas once they are ready. These formulas will also be made available to all addon makers in hopes of creating a uniform compatibilty system. Addons for OFP version 1.85 and up need to be coded to fit into one of five WWIIEC classes in the "vehiclesclass=" string. These classes are:

Air (WWIIEC)
Armored (WWIIEC)
Men (WWIIEC)
Vehicles (WWIIEC)
Objects (WWIIEC)
