In-game testing of guidance code written in Python for Patriot PAC-2 GEM missiles.
The Predictor code attempts to classify the target based on its altitude and speed. If the target is flying lower than 65wm AGL and its moving velocity is faster than 35wm/second, then the target is classified as a cruise missile. If the target is flying at altitude above 65wm AGL and moving slower than 35wm/second, then the target is classified as a maneuvering aircraft.
If the target is determined to be a cruise missile, then lead-collision guidance is used to deliver the ballistic dual-stage SAM interceptor to the likely predicted flight path of the target.
If the target is determined to be a maneuvering aircraft, then pure-pursuit tail-chase navigation is used to deliver the interceptor toward the target, then the system switches the guidance mode to lead-pursuit at terminal phase once the missile arrives near from its target.
