Due to the recent addition of new goodies to the Loyalists the Chaos Space Marines got jealous and is now arming their forces with Volkite Weapons! Expect more of their troops beeing rearmed soon too!

no offense but it kinda looks like an upgraded plasma gun. still awesome though
Well, Volkite weaponry are superheated based so it would work something along the lines of a plasma gun but I think it is a cross between a plasma and a lasgun weapon....

Think of the ray gun from those atomic puck comics or from mars attacks.
The design may look similar to a 41st millennium plasma gun, but don't let that fool you. This is a completely different weapon type employed primarily during the 30k era, but still some examples do exist in the current timeline.
These were essenitally the original standard-issue weapons employed by the legiones astartes during the early stages of the Great Crusade, but unfortunately as the legions grew in considerable numbers the capability to produce them in sufficient numbers wasn't fast enough and therefore was replaced by the more easy-to manufacture bolter which we know today.
Volkites or rather Thermal rays are essentially Martian death-rays if you have ever seen the Mars Attacks movie.
"It deflagrates organic matter on contact, explosively burning flesh into ash and jet fire. A direct hit by a volkite/thermal ray could cause a target to simply combust, often taking nearby comrades with them".
So in essence it is the perfect weapon against all kinds of infantry and of course blobs/swarms. Heavier volkite weapons can also punch through light and medium vehicle armor with ease.
Volkite gun looks cool!, maybe a good idea at somepoint to take the better space marine terminator models and chaosify them though, this ones showing its age

You know, with the love the loyalist SM got with the DoW2 terminator models (they look incredible in DoW), couldn't the same be done for Chaos SM? I mean, the models exist, so why not just add them?
