Fantastic to see that more Second Age Numenorean look - jerkin-over-mail, and the white tree on some of those shields looks fantastic!
I think there's actually a pretty good argument for using this kind of armour design (the mail with jerkin style) for Gondor as well - Tolkien doesn't describe plate armour, and the sheer logistics of producing a full suit of fitted plate for an entire army would make it virtually impossible.
As well as that, Gondor at the moment doesn't really have the white/silver and black aesthetic that Tolkien emphasises.
Still, that was also the case in the movies - I just figured that this mod is taking the books into account in so many ways, that it might be cool to have Gondor look a little more like Tolkien described, rather than how PJ thought they should look.
Gondor was supposed to be richer and more powerful than Arnor, so the plate armour might make sense. I really wish some of the factions, Gondor, Harad, maybe even Rhun and Eriador, started with less cities though.
That's a fair point. One option might be to use more primitive forms of plate armour (like a kind called a "coat-of-plates"). That would give Gondor a flavour more true to the book, but also reflect their sophistication.
I suppose one strange thing about the books was how incredibly long the time-scales were - it's literally been 7,000 years of inhabitation of ME by Elves by the time of the mod, and unlike our history, the civilisations are all pretty continuous - not many starts from scratch - so many thousands of years for armour to develop beyond what Tolkien actually describes.
i think the way PJ showed the gondorians was probably the best looking way possible, its not impossible to create a plate of metal and well the gondorians were great when it came to such tech, keep the second age stuff to Arnor and keep gondor as it is
Awesome
perfect
More than it.
Beautiful!
Nice ;)
Gotta love that detail!

Well done...
Awesome
That's as close as you can get to 'real' without making another game.
Shield are really nice =)
Good work.
Just noticed a slight seam on a few of the facial textures. Probably pretty easy to fix.
Glorious
nice work ;D
