The Woodpecker, like my bigger project Forbidden Trip, contains some huge environments plus is a heavy Total Conversion.
It needs a recent computer to perform well, check the forums for more information & tips!
You should be able to run TW on older rigs by reading this paragraph and checking the forums. 😎
Do not use 4K, the engine is not made for that: stick to 1080p if you have a good machine.
720p is more than enough to enjoy TW if you have a 2013 medium range machine (believe me).
Anyway, the game has old-school aesthetics so I tend to think it looks better in 720p or 900p.

- I'm a big fan of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. myself. Plus I'm a big fan of Amnesia, Penumbra & especially SOMA. So guess what?
- I decided to create a narrative experience keeping in mind: what could happen if the worlds of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. and SOMA were linked, in a parallel universe?
- The themes for this jam were Winter and hibernation.
- I worked hard to try producing a simple yet decent storyline in original environments you are not accustomed to in Amnesia, partly inspired by S.T.A.L.K.E.R. titles.
- Your goal: complete your mission. There is a good reason you came back to this place after all those years...
- I hope you will have a fun time in this strange, desolated complex!

The Woodpecker just got updated to 1.2: all fonts were revamped so they scale properly on high resolutions plus are also compatible with new translations. They also look better. 🌐
As a result, Russian localization was added in-game, special thanks to Aleksei Panov! 🙏
Just go to the game settings and select your favourite language, like in original Amnesia!

Hello, there are different launchers in the game folder, depends what you prefer. Check that the game is not launched as minimized when the prompt is shown. 😉
Otherwise yep, it's a short 20-30 min concept, maybe I'll do a larger project based on this someday (if I have time).

Soooo many frame rate drops in this story. The frame rate fluctuates too wildly for me and I am using an RTX2080 and an i9 processor.
Hi, yep FPS can vary depending on your hardware combination I guess… 🤔 Other players, testers & myself got very decent results with older specs although I can totally understand this mod can be demanding; it's one big map. On the other hand, I heard problems currently happening with recent hardware & other games; maybe upcoming drivers will solve most of that.
Just in case, do you remember which floors or rooms you had frame drops?

Edit: all my works are optimised for 1080p resolution, nothing up. Looking at your other comments I see you play in 4K, try lowering your resolution and you'll be fine. 😉
