While the PR side of The Rising MOD has been silent these past few months, the MOD has actually progressed quite a bit since then. Here is a recap of past events, completed work, and current WIPs.

In early June, I was on Podcast17 talking about the MOD, answering questions, and shedding more light on how The Rising will feel and play. I highly recommend listening to the interview as it reveals so many cool game play mechanics and features we previously hadn’t mentioned.

One of the reasons the MOD was delayed this year was the fact that we weren’t happy with the way our weapons looked, felt, and sounded. While on the surface this seems more like a cosmetic upgrade, it actually gave us a great opportunity to re-work our weapon system and give the MOD a more survival-horror feel with combat that’s in-your-face and not just another zombie shoot’em up. And besides, the first-person animations and weapons are something you’ll be seeing/hearing 90% of the time. So for something players are always going to be looking at, it’s a good idea to make them incredible. As a result, every weapon (including the arms) has been (or is in the process of being) re-made from the ground up. In addition, John recently re-recorded each weapon and Sick420 (our animator) is hand animating the in-game first-person camera for each weapon sequence (think BF:BC2 or Modern Warfare 2).

Our Resistance character has undergone many changes and transformations throughout this year. Here is a glimpse of his current state.

Great work guys! It's well worth going back and polishing assets as you go along with a mod (naturally you build up your skills as you progress) - what I'm seeing here has really pulled your mod forward in terms of visuals.
