In The Rising, there is no place to hide, there is no escape, and you will not be rescued. The only hope available for mankind will come from your determination and resilience. The time of avoidance and submission are over. The only option is to resist.

Yeah it's pretty neat in-game.

and a bit more realistic I think, I'm pretty sure you don't walk with the gun in aim-mode while walking in a somewhat secure premise but, can you aim? Like if I press the right mouse button the hands will move down to normal aiming mode, if you understand what i mean :P

Yeah you can still go into ironsights.

I might be misunderstand here, but does that mean the gun is either in the upright position or a iron sight aiming mode? It's just, don't most armed forces (police, soldiers, etc) hold their weapons down if drawn and moving(maybe if the player were to move the gun could go down?), and then when they aim they point at the target? One would "assume" that the only reason to hold a gun pointed in the upright position would be if there was some kind of obstacle blocking field of view or movement, like a wall. Also, going from down to center mass is just easier, there isn't much movement involved in it, where up to center could be hard especially if the gun is heavy. Sorry for the rant :D and I could be totally wrong here.

Well holding it down/up depends on the situation. Are you going to breach a room and expect to see a mix of hostiles and innocent people? Or are just keeping your weapon at the ready while trying to traverse a lot of terrain? Also, sticking your gun out makes it easier for people to disarm you/knock the gun out of your hand. It all comes down to preference and the situation really.

Yeah, I defiantly think that when breaching a room it would be best to have it placed in the upright position. I guess my main question, which kind of got lost in my previous statement, would be has firing from the hip been eliminated?

except it isn't. that pose is called the "Charlies Angels" pose for a reason. it came from Charlie's Angels. The only reason to hold a handgun like that is to get it in a close-up camera view with your face. :|
That said there's no reason not to have it in a game if it looks cool.

Doesn't it block the field of view a bit? Like this it blocks out a large part.

Well I guess it comes down to preference. I personally didn't feel like my view was being blocked too much. I thought it looked bad-*** ingame.

You could implement a Nightfire-like system where, after not firing or aiming with your gun for a while, the gun could go into the idle position.

Ofcource it wouldnt just go to fire animations and look like a fuckup afterwards, more like a "CLICK CLICK SHOOT DAMNIT!" situation would also suck. Therefore you should be quicker, and more agile by pushing your weapon into the "idle" state while slower but ready and a limit for using state.

so when you fire, does the gun go instantly to aim-mode (which i imagine looks turd) or is there a brief delay as an aim animation plays?

When going into iron sights mode, no. When firing from the hip, yes, it currently does that. However, the transition from the idle position to the gun firing is so fast you don't really see anything.

i guess its quite fatiguing to hold a gun up at all times.
why not holding it down - like in HL² when you encounter friendlys

and it doesnt block the sight ;)

Maybe for all the people to be happy is have an option.
neither that or have a more "looking down/ahead" kind of view.
would make it happy for everyone :D

is there any kind of "theme" for the weapons in this mod? (e.g not just AK47s and M4A1s, the kind of guns the average person would find first in an apocalypse like handguns and shotguns)

Nice pistol wielding. Would be kinda nice if when you hold the gun like this, you run/walk a bit faster, and the "original" wield makes you slower, but able to shot.

Nice however :D
