The Red Alert, developed by the mod team of C&C Labs (makes of The Forgotten and C&C All Stars, undertakes one of the most ambitious tasks in C&C modding: to recreate and improve upon an original game. The mod, in development for Red Alert 3, is based off the original Red Alert's art and game play. Not aiming to model realism, it instead endeavors to bring the addictive heart-pounding game play of the classic to a world-class 3D engine, to bring back all of the classic units, including those from Aftermath, and to recreate the very "feel" of its art style. With The Red Alert, epic tank battles, MiG attack runs, and Cruiser strikes will be more than just fond memories — they will all be weapons in your arsenal once again! It was released on September 21, 2011 and was ranked the number one mod on Moddb.

Nice idea with the Gap effect, looks a lot better than just drawing a circle on the ground. I guess to the enemy the bubble would look like this, but completely black?

Something that comes to my attention is that the MGG looks higher detail than most other tanks and unis. One reason seems to be the randomely placed steel platings on the unit-models. Since you can't see the structure of the steel platings on the RA sprites I guess it's an original design. Maybe you could take another look at them and make the units look a little less like "scrap made playtoys".

That's funny, because the MGG was based on the sprite, just like everything else...

Shouldn't the MRJ be on the soviet side?

Nope, I'm pretty sure the Soviets had no radar jamming tech.
I hated the Allies back then because they had no super-heavy tanks :P

But I was like 8 back then, if not younger xD

Actually, the Tesla Tank served as a radar jammer.

o.o for real?
Does it still do that? Seems a tiny bit OP to me.
Maybe make it a secondary ability like the Mirage Tank, if it still does?

@Tsumetai: With higher detail I mean the TZexture, which (safe for the general idea) I doubt you based on the original RA sprites (as it simply doesn't have that much detail). I guess the fact that the MGG looks better (at least to me) is simply because those black lines (which I guess are welding lines for the armor plates most of those vehicels are made with) don't looks so random, and... silly.

If I may I would just suggest to rethink the way those textures look like. I won't suggest to base anything off of rea-life vehicles, I think your approach is fine, but I think the models themselves could be greatly improved if i.e. those welding lines looked like those things were actually manufactored for battle. Right now they look like scrap toys, if I may say so. This especially goes for the Light/Med, the APC, the Longbow, the missile sub and the Heavy tank (and partially the Mig and Spyplane. The wings look good, the body not so much). The Demo trucks, the MGG, the Chronotank, the MCV (from what I can make out) and the Minelayers look a lot better. This Goes especially for the Chronotank, which is probably the best texturework in your mod as of yet.

@Mazuro: It wasn't overpowered in the least. Radar wasn't as essential to begin with. The Gap tech was a lot more dangerous since it cut off radar and took away your line of sight.

Ooh, it only jammed the radar.
I thought it was like the Gap Tech :x
Yeah I suppose it's fine then :P

Excuse me for that, I never had the expansion packs for RA,
and even so it's been at least 8-10 years ^^;

From my knowledge it's only the orignal RA and TD, not the extensions. Unless they changed anything after I dled them, of course.

Yeah I know it's free now, expansions included if you manage to find them.
I just can't handle the small 640x480 resolution, especially not on a 16:9 screen.

It's just to small, got spoiled by those darn 3D games :[

the mod looks AWESOME!!!!

EDIT!
when I look this was for RA2 but there is one for RA1

Only thing I can think of is that the Light Tank and the Telsa Tank look very, very similar. Not that it's too much of a problem, but the top of the Light Tank's turret catches the eye waaaaaaay to much. I'd recommend you toy a little with the spec map.

Still very impressed.

Sorry if these seem a little lackluster compared to previous releases; I wasn't really prepared this month.
