You are a protagonist who has no ties to the material world. You have no family, no friends, and no identity. You set out on an adventure of pure curiosity, and you soon realize you have entered a world filled with peril, ghosts, puzzles and a deep history. Taking heavy inspiration from the Legend of Zelda series, I hope to breathe some fresh life into the FPS genre. The game will feature puzzle aspects and an intricate story that will immerse you in a compelling adventure.
After many, many, many, many...
many...
hours of work, I can finally call one of the maps complete! Don't worry, there are 5 other maps in the works, they just aren't completely done yet!
Stay tuned!
What on Earth are all those individual 64 x 64 blocks?
They are actually 256x256 (This is zoomed out A LOT) and they are displacements! It's my way of doing displacements so when you subdivide them, you can work with a smaller grid since there is a limit for how many powers of subdivision you can have! Also so you can work with small sections at a time rather than the entire surface.
That's actually pretty common practice amongst people who actually know how to use displacements well, but it's usually worth optimizing a lot to keep them all sew-able without using more than you actually need.
I don't see a map. I see hours... well done.
Looks like it was laid out and designed neatly, great job
