Literally the first thing I started looking here for were Jafar jokes. Am not disappointed.

is he one of the Mouth of Sauron's people, the Black Numenoreans? or is he a man of Harad?

Given that Haradrim and Black Numenoreans have been intermingling for centuries, it's very highly likely this guy is Black Numenorean or at least part-Black Numenorean. Plus it would make more sense if he was, given Sauron trusted Black Numenoreans more (at least I believe he did).
So excited to try Haradwaith. I've been wanting Gondor vs Harad battles for so long. Or Gondor+Rohan vs Gondor+Harad, since the Kin-strife is my favourite era.
Wait, I don't remember reading about him in the lore compendium or the faction plan. Did I slip past it or is it simply a new addition?
Syâr-Rhul was a relatively late addition to Haradwaith's faction plan but he is on the faction plan page.

Yes they used this design for a basis for the black numenorians but not the exact copy of it.
And on that basis should they or any other artist have asked permission from WETA to use certain designs? it's not stealing just inspiration

Almost feels like you're upset that black numenoreans look like black numenoreans. Did you expect this one to be dressed in all white with a radiant glow and a golden staff or something? Or are you perhaps the deviantart user and you're upset a mod using designs that have some loose connections (due to being depictions of the same culture) to the one you sent is doing better than the artwork?

Thats not his point. The AotR team is notorious for filing false DMCA claims against people producing original assets merely *similar* to their own, whilst shamelessly breaking their own rule with nearly everything they make. They are pathetic hypocrites of the highest order.
This is just patently untrue. I'm not sure where you're getting this information. We have filed several DMCA claims against links that contain our actual assets (as far as I know, only against Dagor Dagorath, a notorious thief project). There have been people that have created things that are *similar* to our work and we have had no problems with this at all.
Bruh the things they have DMCA'd arent merely similar to their own its straight up their 3d models...
Saying that them basing a 3d model of a bit of concept art is theft is so completely untrue. Both had to be made from the ground up both are different it isnt a 1 to 1 copy and they never claimed the concept art was there own or used the orignal piece anywhere in game. Use common sense and stop being so butthurt.

Balrog_of_Morgoth: So Syâr-Rhul is the Black Vizier, the Arbiter of Faith, the 'law of the land' under the Golden King of Abrakhân. The concept of a 'high arbiter' (ie. a judge) being 'blind' isn't really a new thing, I agree:

But that's the point. Syâr-Rhul is based on an obvious archetype and is visually connected to the Mouth of Sauron, who has a similar role under Sauron.
I doubt Syâr-Rhul is actually blind. He certainly isn't seeing through 'black magic' (is this such a common trope, by the way? The only character besides the Mouth of Sauron that I can think of is... Illidan Stormrage?).
He just looks this way in order to dehumanize himself, to be more of a symbol than a man, to intimidate those he commands.

You are falsely equivocating this to literally stealing the art and using it as our own (ie. posting the artwork and pretending we drew it). That's nonsense. Being inspired by someone else's art is not a bad thing.

- So what you are telling me is if I use one of your designs as inspiration and make my own you will not accuse me of stealing your design ? Because after one of your members shared your policy in TMC discord this is not what he said. That means as individuals your team doesnt have the same mind set and this causing the problem here.

This reply is so tone deaf, it's clear your hear to just cause problems. The policy the aotr team has is that if you steal their art for bfme and put it into another game without asking that's theft. Basing a 3d model like the black numenorians off a piece of 2d art isnt theft.... lol. The art was made from the ground up as was the 3d model they didnt just take the drawing and use it (that would be theft, and is what happens all the time in modding communities). Your argument has no actual basis on anything and it seems your mad at everyone because of what was probably a misunderstanding with an aotr team member or something. Get over yourself and spend time actually doing something productive instead of being rude on a moddb image comments section.....
Also if AOTR designs suck so much and are unoriginal then why would you wanna ask about using them or basing something off them :P (heres a life tip dont be a hypocrite and contradict yourself when wanting to have an argument or it all just falls apart)
Yes, what I am telling you is that you are allowed to be inspired by our designs and create something (from scratch) based on them. We got permission from the artist that created the Black Númenórean concept art, by the way.
The policy that we posted on our server was worded very clearly. It was regarding the stealing of assets (not being 'inspired' by them), and condoning this activity. The BFME community is rife with content thieves, which is a drain on people that create their own stuff (us included).
I am aware that this policy got shared to the TMC server by someone on our team, and that there were some pretty strong reactions to it. I, as Age of the Ring team leader, did not intend for it to go beyond the BFME community. There are 20+ people in the Age of the Ring team - sometimes confusion may occur. I don't know exactly what was said (I'm not on that server), but I do know the person that posted this on TMC got some serious abuse in return. But I have already spoken about this, at length, to a representative of the TMC community. That was a pleasant conversation and I consider JMonsterTW a friend. And now you're here, leveling abuse against us again.
We banned people from our Discord once we knew they explicitly supported art theft, and when some members of TMC started some 'invasion' after our stance was posted on there. If they want to be unbanned, I'm fine with that. Just send me a PM here or on Discord. This was a simple misunderstanding that I assumed was cleared up months ago.
This will be my last reply here. If you actually want to have a mature conversation, you know where to contact me. If not, I will start deleting these rage comments from now on.
Thanks for banning me too btw. Since then I've got my life back! Instead of checking your discord all days long to see new artworks, I am now back at moddb every once in a week like any normal human being. I can finally play with my kids or listen to my wife without thinking about Saruman of many colors or the next Two Towers campaign. So again, thank you.
