If you are experiencing issues with the installer, it is possible to manually install Age of the Ring 5.0. `
1. Create a folder named Age of the Ring 5.0 in an installation location of your choice (e.g C:/Program Files/Age of the Ring 5.0).
2. Open the aotr.zip included in the downloaded AotR_Version_5.0.rar and extract all of its contents into the folder you have created.
3. Create a shortcut from the lotrbfme2ep1.exe file in your vanilla RotWK folder
4. Go into the shortcut's properties and edit the Target box so that at the end of "C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\The Lord of the Rings, The Rise of the Witch-king\lotrbfme2ep1.exe" there is -mod "location of your aotr folder inside Age of the Ring 5.0" e.g. "C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\The Lord of the Rings, The Rise of the Witch-king\lotrbfme2ep1.exe" -mod "C:\Program Files\Age of the Ring 5.0\aotr"
5. Click apply and close the shortcut's properties. You can now launch Age of the Ring 5.0 from that shortcut.

Go into the folder on your computer that has the files for the base version of Rise of the Witch King. In that folder, you should see a program called "lotrbfme2ep1.exe". Right click on that program, and create a shortcut to it on your desktop. Now, right click on the new shortcut and select properties. You should automatically be brought to the shortcut section of the properties, and there will be a box labelled "target". In the box, edit the target so it reads
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\The Lord of the Rings, The Rise of the Witch-king\lotrbfme2ep1.exe" -mod "file location of the mod"
For the file location of the mod, just input whatever the file location is for the aotr file from the mod.

I am having a problem with the installation, there seems to be a virus? idk but if someone could tell me what i'm doing wrong that would be great.

I Had the same problem, it seems that the new installer has some type of structure that gets mistaken by a virus, but someone from the modding team told me that its just a false alarm
My computer came up with a similar warning. The mod is structured as a kind of program that could be mistaken for a virus. If on Windows 10, find "see details" or "see more," and that should bring up an option to "run anyway." I went through these steps and it's working properly for me.
I set the update down to v8.0.1 like you said but the mod didn't work. I then uninstalled the latest patch and reinstalled v8.0.1 and it didn't work either. It just boots me out of the game before anything even starts. Am I missing something?
If you're able to launch vanilla RotWK, delete all of your custom maps.
If you're unable to launch vanilla RotWK, you're likely missing options.ini in your My Lord of the Rings, Rise of the Witch King Files folder in AppData/Roaming

hi im having trouble with the game i installed it but when i try to start it just stops and closes with a message that the game stopped working... do you know what i can do?
Try removing your custom maps.

I have a question, if I download it and Install it will my 4.0 saved games disappear?? Congrats on the mod, it's amazing, thanks.
They won't disappear as they are saved in a different folder to where Age of the Ring is installed.

Ohhh boy! I've been checking your main page everyday and now here we are! I'm so excited!! Congratulations on the anticipated 5.0 release!!!
I extract file in Disk C, program files(×86),Age of the Ring. But when I click on installer.exe as administrator there comes an error that says, "the program cant start because api-ams-win-crt-runtime-|1-1-0.dll is missing from your computer".
Then i click on Ok and it says "Error loading Python Dll"

I've made all of "C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\The Lord of the Rings, The Rise of the Witch-king\lotrbfme2ep1.exe" in the targeted box and my aotr folder is in Disk C program files in Age of thr Ring 5.0... but it doesn't work, when i run the shortcut it brings GameRanger command-file flag tool thar has 3 boxes(the first one named Game executable and the second one named Mod file and the last one is Extra flags)
Did you get it to work? I just installed with the same issue, the base game won't even start without that window popping up.
Yeah i could do it and it worked, my problem was that i have installed RotWK on drive I of my PC and after i went discord and got support i could undrestand how to fil target box. What's your issue? The admins and AOTR team can help you on discord
Basically, the Command-in flag line window keeps popping when I try to launch the vanilla game or mod. Tried to go via instructions but no success so far
