This mod will start were the original Half Life2 episode 2 ended, with the death of Alyx her father. She became sick by the loss and layes in bed. Magnusson needs Gordon to look for Kleiner, because he has disapeared. The last time he did see Kleiner was when he spoke about going to the Borealis to blow the ship and everything inside up. Gordon needs to travel by airplane to the North pole and find Kleiner, and save the ship. Will you be on time? And will you find out what the secret cargo is that is inside the ship?

Played abit of it so far.
Still too early to give a solid opinion. In anycase, i was impressed by the amount of work you put into it already.

Though, i'm heart broken to see the rudeness that's unfolding over on RTSL.

It seems alot of it comes from people expecting a Valve tier game... Which made me wonder, why is the mod called "Half-life 2: Episode 3" in the gameinfo?

Hi Josh,
well, when i started the mod 6 years ago it was called Rooftop Tetreat, as you maybe know. After a year or 2 i believe i changed it in to The Closure because this mod for now is the last big mod i am making. Will focus now first on indie game dev. Also is it following the story line of the original ep2 and will it close the HL saga. So, that is also a closure. But, 2 years ago or so i started to think why i should not call it Ep 3, because that is what it is (also is it my 3th huge mod with source, Final Project mod was a small one). So, why not call it as what it is, Ep3. That the mods Moddb page still is called The Closure is because all links to this site will not work anymore when i change it. Otherwise this mods page also would have been named EP3. And, i will be honest. Ofcourse do i think that the mod will get much more atention in the media when it is called EP3. So, those are the answers. Glad you are liking it so far. The further you get the better the mod gets, that is at least my opinion.

And many thanks again for all your help with this mod Josh !!!

Ah, thanks for the response.
And i'm excited to play some more.

Though i'm still sad to see all those rude comments, i feel many people have been spoiled by mods like Underhell or Black Mesa.

What i really like about your mods, is that they take me back to when insane graphical, or engine overhauls, weren't necessary to make a great mod.

I think the biggest art of your mod work so far, is just how much you manage to do, with stock Source assets.

I did notice that The Closure has some new code, that's a first, right?

Yes, the mod has a custom code now. Didn't want to use that indeed for a long time. But in the end there were some troubles with the sniper rifle that caused very wierd but big errors. Malortie the code had to write a code for that so it was fixed.
The error that was caused by the sniper was that when held in hand while a levelchange took place it caused the player to go in to god mode, which couldn't be undone anymore. Also when the player is stripped from his weapons the sniper wouldn't disapear and it made it impossible to pick up any health and or batteries. Strange he, but, its fixed. Was a real problem which was worked on for 3 weeks, (this was the main reason why i had to delay the 17 february release).

I don't understand, why set Source SDK 2013 SP to beta? The latest version of the Source SDK 2013 should work with the latest HL2 mods.

Something tells me that this release would have re-written/edited the code with the latest version of the Source SDK 2013.

Yes indeed, your right. The mod runs now on a custom code. Didn't want to use one because each time Valve releases a update mods with custom code ALWAYS have trouble then. But because the sniper rifle has a issue the mod needed to run on this new code.

When I run, after the Valve logo, it flashes the loading screen for a split second, then closes and displays this:
"Engine Error

Could not load library client. Try restarting. If that doesn't work, verify the cache."

I have SDK Base 2013 Singleplayer installed, with the Beta enabled. I have verified that, restarted Steam, to no avail. Is this a common problem? Any idea how this can be fixed?

Sorry to hear this Orang3dragon612. Your the first also with this error message. Did you run source 2013 SP after you did set it to beta. Malortie made a great install video and when you do exactly what he shows in there the mod really runs fine. So would you please go over ones more to the RTSL download site of the mod and check out that video, then all will play fine.

I have run all Half-Life 2 games, even though E3 does not require them, and run Source 2013 SP Beta. And yet, I get the same error. I ran your own Strider Mountain and Nightmare House 2 as a test, and both of those worked fine. The mod was installed correctly.

For some reason, it seems if I run SP Beta, then verify the steam files, it will say a file is missing, and will be reacquired. However, if I run the Beta again, and verify again, it will say the file is missing again.

If you have any clue on this, it would be appreciated. Such a long wait for E3, and it seems I'll have to wait a little bit longer :3

I am very sorry to hear that you have this problem with the mod Orang3dragon612. And to be honest have i no clue what could cause it. You say E3 does not requite any of the source games but that is not true. The mod really does need HL2 Episode 2 to be installed !!!
Otherwise you miss all those assets and files that i used in my mod. As far as i know do only total conversions on a SDK only, beta or not.

So please install first Episode 2 and i am quit sure all will then work fine. Please let me know, if not then we need to look more in to this.

All Half Life games are currently installed, and they all have been launched at least once.

Out of curiosity, is E3 supposed to have a little Steam Icon?

Finished playing HL3: closure. 1june2017.
i played thru 7 maps. the first 6 and then i jumped to the end map and played that. overrall it was ok. 50/50. i liked some of the metallic emerald look of the antlions. the zombie combine cops were interesting. by the time the 6th map was completed, i really felt like the whole thing was cobbled together out of bits and pieces of other maps. other games. flet like it was dragging on.
really was disjointed, it didnt flow. it got confusing. one moment im in a dark underground cave, then i take an elevator to an office?? alot of elements were trying to be jammed into each map.
Tho it didnt follow " half life lore", there were no puzzles to solve. At all. which is Defintiely part of HL lore.
it went on and on for 35maps. probably coudlve told the same story with about half that amount.

Man, i am sure this was a lot of work... but nothing in this mod fits the HL universe. The cutscenes, the weird enemy models, the new weapons, the spaceship... so out of place. Sorry, this ain't it chief.
