Take on the role of an operative in the Hex Gen network, a decentralized movement of hacktivists resisting the economic pillaging conducted by the unholy alliances of Big Tech, Big Military, and Big Finance. Think "The Windup Girl" meets "Neuromancer". Features: -Facial, vocal biometric capture devices -"Nohface" electronic face projector for thwarting surveillance/drones which cover almost every inch of city -Wireless internet -Darknets - all web activity is fully surveilled, you need stealth not only in meatspace but in cyberspace -More types of hacking - cryptography, DDoS, spoofing -Hunger: experience real economic destitution as you slowly die of starvation and are forced to beg, steal, or even kill for a piece of bread. -DIY: Upgrade your hemp trenchcoat with solar trim, syphon electricity from the private power grid, take apart old phones and radios to hack together an EMP gun, set up a hydroponic garden in your squatted flat so you don't have to kill for every meal.

Post news Report RSS Terminus Machina Release Slated

Good news, supporters! Terminus Machina beta release is slated for June! And it may happen, with some help from 'angel investors' in the community ;)

Posted by on

Update 5/27 - Voice acting for three small parts (one female) still needed. If all of these parts can be completed before June then the mod may see an early release! Please comment/message if you can help with voice acting, thanks. No prior experience required for these parts.

Good news, supporters! I’ve got my biohacked vision trained on a Terminus Machina beta release
by this June!

The bug extermination squad continues putting dissident snaggles of code out of their misery, and the result is the near-present dystopia has shown a 50% increase in dystopicness this quarter! Extra thanks to all the hard work testers have put in, with extra kudos to redrich and Dentonoid who have taken the lead with gametesting.

In order to get the game out by the June deadline, I will have to call on the community to get a swath of tertiary and a few larger-role voices cast. So if anyone at all, or anyone you know might be able donate a bit of time in front of their mic of any quality, then I would sure appreciate it, and so would everyone who wants to play this thing. Message me / comment if interested in voice acting.

For your econopocalyptic viewing pleasure, I present the Terminus Machina introductory cinematic, which should throw you head-first into the genetically warped sludge-lake of the Terminus Machina world.

WARNING: Not for the faint of heart or the willfully ignorant of mind. Contains scenes of extreme reality.

And here's a freshly redesigned logo for the Hex Gen hacktivist group. Hopefully capturing the peer-2-peer, decentralized, populist nature of the movement.

Title should have been slight less misleading.
Also, in the intro, it would be a little better if it was "It's the best of times for the proverbial 'one percent'..." since I assume that the 99% haven't been decreased to less than 10k-100k people.
I don't think it would stop at just one percent, it would go to half, then a quarter, then near the end you have 5 or so corporations making robotic armies to kill each other and ultimately you would have one CEO/king-god left in the world.

I think the proverbial nature of the 99% - 1% dichotomy is embedded within the recently popularized parlance itself, since its usage within the context of populist/class struggle in the Occupy Movement denotes a relative rather than an absolute inequality. The college students saddled with non-defaultable student loans, the homeowners being foreclosed on, the nurses without healthcare who led the charge are themselves part of the 99% -- but only within the reserve-currency-filled fishbowl of the United States. Obviously it is the highest echelons of the 0.1% (insert additional zeroes as necessary), the Buffets, the Dimons, the Waltons whom enjoy extrajudicial Shangri-Lah, even in our own times. Even millionaires (most famously Gerald Celente) can have their life savings stolen out of supposedly segregated accounts to pay for the failed fraudulent hedges of so called 'rogue traders' who are themselves scapegoats for the apex executives. There is zero control fraud protection from the CFTC, SEC, FinCEN et al, who are nothing but obfuscated praetors of the Cthulu-esque entities they're supposed to be regulating. The only official 'recourse' is arbitration by a committee consisting of NFA senior members who are themselves one of the 500 banking frat brothers serving incestually on one another's boards. And, you know, family is family, and the family is the Corleones. So you get the "proverbial" rose in the pocket.

If we'd like to slice the pie on a global scope, where we'd see the average income of humanity itself is three times below the rock-bottom poverty line of the US. But of course all of this is a subjective valuation, depending on the interpretation of "best of times". Making 4$ an hour picking GMO tomatoes as a kinda-sorta-illegal immigrant after jumping ship at the port of SF is "the best of times" if you've just come from assembling iPads 18 hours a day at random times of the day in a cloud of melamine for a bowl of rice and a guarantee that your family won't vanish into some organ-harvesting camp as long as you don't voice your displeasure, ever.

So basically, no. :)

Thanks comrade, I'm looking forward to DXN as well. Maybe I'll try and stagger the exact date a little so the mods don't come out at the exact same time. Or, would it be better to have both come out at the same time and have synergistic hype-building for Deus Ex and its associated material?

I don't mind simultaneous releases. :] Once DXN will be released on June 3rd I can finally say goodbye to editing FOREVER so the sooner (i.e. immediately >_>) I get to playing new DX SP mods, the better ;]

Oh right, DXN is coming out in June also. Shoot, perhaps I should try and stagger the release dates so everyone doesn't get fired for calling in sick for a month!

Great news, but also makes me a bit wary. I think I'd be more comfortable with a later release date to make sure everything is up to snuff. From the description it seems like there's still a lot of voice acting to be done.

Yes, the date itself is tentative and depends on several factors, including whether or not I can get the voice acting done by then, and (cross fingers) RL interruptions remain at bay.
