SWAT: Elite Force is a massive overhaul of SWAT 4: The Stetchkov Syndicate, making it into a more realistic tactical police simulator.
The menus and equipment have received significant overhauls. The breaching slot (and tab) have been removed and a sixth tactical slot has been added in its place. C2 is now considered a tactical item and the breaching shotgun will be considered a weapon. (The breaching shotgun is a primary or secondary weapon and has a 100% chance to breach a door, but a very wide choke and large recoil)
We have added a new GUI element type, the link button, which closes the game and opens a web browser to a specified link.
The main menu now displays the mod name and version number, and has link buttons to the SWAT 4 Discord and Wiki.
The Join Server menu now won't display duplicates of servers, the player sorting functionality works correctly, and there is a link button to download the server browser plugin.
The loadout menu has received significant upgrades. The layout has been totally altered. You can now assign a loadout (or just a single tab) to Element (everyone), a specific team, or a specific officer.
Ingame, the HUD now displays how many grenades, wedges or C2 you have left when you have one of those equipped. (For example, the HUD shows +2 if you have a wedge equipped and a wedge 3-pack in your loadout) When Pepper Spray is equipped, the +0 to the right of the ammo meter now shows the number of cans you have left.
That last one is what I'm the most happy for. Thanks.
The Tab/Loadout is also worth dancing to. Thanks ez!
Simply amazing.
I dont get why breaching tab had to be removed?
The breaching tab only ever the breaching shotgun and C2 and it didn't really allow very much flexibility.
With this setup, you can pack up to 18 C2 or none at all. It allows for stuff like dedicated breacher builds. Likewise the breaching shotgun will be usable as a weapon (and even be pretty decent at this task) which means you can customize how much ammo you want to bring for it, and use whatever kind of ammo you want. The breaching shotgun always breaches the door on the first shot, and there will be frangible breaching ammo which doesn't overpenetrate the door or ricochet.
tl;dr - it's for more flexibility with your builds :)
How are you guys doing it, do you have game engine source code or something?
Hi, we are using the fixed SDK, which is available on Moddb. It's all Unrealscript; the BeyondUnreal Wiki has some great information on this language.
SWAT: Elite Force is also open source under the GNU GPL, you can take a look at our code here: Github.com
Nothing but a text editor (I prefer Atom, by Github) and the game itself is needed. I plan on writing a bunch of tutorials on SWAT4 related stuff at some point in the future.
That would be incredibly helpful, thank you!
