SWAT: Elite Force is a massive overhaul of SWAT 4: The Stetchkov Syndicate, making it into a more realistic tactical police simulator.
In v6, the melee button will serve a second purpose: when near a door, instead of punching, the melee button will check to see if the door is locked.
The melee range has also been doubled, to make meleeing targets easier.
Also pictured is the silenced UMP .45.

Is there any way we can code a custom animation in for checking the lock or will this have to remain text based due to engine limitations?
It's possible but you'd have to create such an animation for every single weapon in the game. Ironsights as it is is pretty tricky since we've had to create right-side faces on all of the weapons.
You could make a new weapon or some kind of multi-tool that checks the locks of the doors among other eventual things, this way only one item would need to be animated. Maybe this tool could check locks and seal them so bad guys get in.
Maybe a whole new mechanic could be introduced where the AI enemies can pick locks themselves and using this multi-tool will mess with the lock so it can't be picked.
If you really want to do that just anime the left arm. It Doesn't need to be a very complicated animation.

I don't know for sure if that will be fixed or not in the next release.
