Star Wars: Interregnum is an upcoming mod for Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion that builds off of the highly successful Enhanced 4X Mod. Fleeing the unknown terror that is chasing the Vasari, the factions of Sins of a Solar Empire stumble on a temporary wormhole that takes them to a galaxy far, far away. The sudden arrival of armadas with trillions of refugees and thousands of warships between the events of Episodes 5 & 6 forever alters the Star Wars universe and plunges the galaxy into an unprecedented period of chaos and violence. The Empire and Rebellion aren't the only ones trying to fortify their fleets by restoring Clone Wars era vessels into active service. The Atzerri Cartel, the lose confederacy of criminal organizations formed to better compete in a war torn galaxy, will also see a few new additions in the next update. ;-)

No idea, we're waiting for the official release of Rebellion 1.83, which I'm not going to try and guess about anymore. :p
Especially when yarlen said that they've run into some snags that they're trying to sort out a few days back.
"Snags" could mean anything...
For all we know, a snag could have been something as bad as a Sarlacc, an aklay, a reek, a nexu, a rancor. Anything. Its dangerous out there.
So expect a joint patch release date with the announcement of Sins 2 got it!.

What sort of abilities will this have over the Alliance Providence class? Or will it just be a copy of it.
Very similar, but the neutral clone wars ships have neutral starfighters.
I'm not too sure if this is lore-friendly, but how far-fetched would a Separatist or Republic Enclave be, like a fort-planet with lots of dreadnoughts on Kamino or a resurgence on Raxus as a random event?
it will take your leader hostage, so as long as the ship is flying around you cant loose control of your planets through getting bombed
