Ah, the Ssi-Ruuvi. One of my all-time-favorites in Star Wars. I just like them and their saurian-like appearance. Glad to see them in this great modification and damn, your talent mixed with the engine of Sins of a Solar Empire brings artistic brilliance into this already great game. Damn good work!

Besides the Vong they're the dumbest **** in star wars. Sentient velociraptors with guns and spaceships, give me a break.

Regarding the picture, that's some nice looking ****.

I'm sorry but the Vong are way cooler than the Ssi-Ruu, even if the Vong are plain silly.

@Geroenimo: You're wrong. These are worse than Vong or Ssi Ruuk:

I've always tried to ignore the dinosaur parts and focus more on the fact that the ship designs are pretty interesting, once you get past the fact that they're all literally the exact same.

I too am very fond of the Ssi-Ruuvi. Nice job guys.

Interesting facts:

- Nearly all of the Empire's ships are also the same triangle shape

- Saurian species have been present in mythology since well before ancient greek lore. Think of how many game such as Diablo for example that have had reptilian species using weapons and tools. The Ssi-Ruuvi are only a futuristic interpretation of an advanced Saurian race.

If fish can evolve into Mon Calamari, and Squid into Quaren, and pigs into Gamoreans and dogs into Wookie, and whatever a Bothan is, having salamander people is not too far fetched.

Nice jog on the models, are you guys having all 5 ship types?

Shree
Warrif
D'Kree
Lweckk
Sh'ner

We plan on having all 5 canon ship models, yeah.

And there's a difference between having the designs be based on the same principles, where there's underlying architectural themes like the Empire, and having two designs where the artist literally copied and pasted his design, distorted the fins and cut out two of the bulbs. Seriously, just look at the schematics for the Shree and Wurrif next to each other. Even the little hull dots are in the EXACT same places.

Okay okay, I have to admit that they are not as close as awesome as the species from the Old Trilogy and the great Expanded Universe stuff that heavily relates on the aesthetics of the glory old days. But when it goes to execution I think it's not such a great problem. Saurians with guns? Yeah sure, not the most brilliant idea ever and not as close as cool as Krayt dragons, Gand, Rodians, Duro, Mon Calamarians and all that kind of creatures and beings. However, I'm going with Burntstrobes argument. Reptilians are a major part of our human culture and you can recognize them in many representational symbols and myths (dragons for example) all over the world and even nowadays there is the famous conspiracy theory of Reptiloids lurking around in the shadows of our society. I think they gave them enough place for an individual and unique culture system, mentality and overall society structure to give them the right for being in the Expanded Universe, be it a side note or not.

Besides that, the ship design wasn't my thing at first because it reminded me of a Mon Calamarian head or fish but now as I see your models I really like the design.

I think the thing is very subjective at a whole. For me I personally dislike the design of the Yuuzhan Vong as Geroenimo mentioned in his post, I just don't like em that much either.

Well, it's great to hear that you plan to include all of their ships for a far greater overall diversity. Good work!
