As much as I love the Pics, you gents put up, as well as the mod of course, I ABSOLUTELY love the lore in the description that you've begun to include! Great work does not even begin to describe the sheer effort, and attention to detail you all have put into your work.

Cheers. We're putting together a Ships of the Line series of screenshots showing the majority of our models in the build-up to The Final Frontier. The aim is to give each ship its own story. Our modelers have done some fantastic work with this mod over the years and we want to pay tribute to that as we see Armada 3 off with style.

Description

The Federation-Cardassian Wars, also known as the Cardassian Border Wars or simply the Border Wars, were a series of conflicts of varying sizes between the United Federation of Planets and the Cardassian Union in the mid-24th Century.

Tensions rose through the 2340s when both the Federation and the Cardassians began establishing colonies in close proximity to each other, with both powers seemingly recognising different border lines. With the Cardassian Union expanding rapidly and hungry for resources, tensions escalated sharply when the Cardassians began seizing planets slated for Federation colonisation, and culminated in a Cardassian assault on the Federation colony world Setlik III. This resulted in a massacre and triggered open conflict until the Cardassians finally withdrew.

What followed was a series of similar conflicts and confrontations. Periods of cold war-like tension and manoeuver would be shattered as firefights broke out between Cardassian and Starfleet vessels, or the Cardassians would attempt to push once more into Federation space, only to be pushed back by Starfleet forces.

The wars were frustrating for both sides, with neither side able to make significant headway. The Cardassian military were unable to match the Federation's resources and technology, while Starfleet captains were held back by Starfleet Command's over-cautious fear of escalating the conflict. This did not prevent these conflicts from taking a toll on both sides, however, as the scars left by the viciousness of these confrontations festered into a legacy of mistrust and resentment between the two powers.

By the 2360s the Border Wars had settled into a seemingly permanent stalemate broken only by the occasional small skirmish. A formal truce was signed in 2367, effectively ending the conflict. The Cardassian-Federation Treaty was signed in 2370, officially realigning the border and establishing a de-militarised zone between the Union and the Federation.
