Star Trek: Armada III begins with the first stirrings of the Dominion War and allows players to take command of five unique factions, the United Federation of Planets, the Klingon Empire, the Romulan Star Empire, the Cardassian Union/Dominion Alliance, and the Borg Collective. Explore strange new worlds, seek out new life and new civilizations, and boldly go where no one has gone before.
Prepare for ramming speed!
Holy **** does this look good!
ramming speed? against that qube?
Resistance seemes to be quite futile here )
Is this before the Enterprise E shows up? The Defiant needs some help.
aha i was waiting for this. A cube in action. Love the weapon effects, the kinda wide angle beam, very reminiscent of first contact !
definitely game play stuff......I guess, or not? another wallpaper?
it really looks like in game
Sure is gameplay :) Almost looks better than the wallpapers heheh
cool :)
most of the pictures on here are in game shots
"Perhaps today IS a good day to die! Prepare for ramming speed!"
I wonder if that would have taken the cube out?
if it had they would have done that first and sacrificed one ship instead of losing loads in a fight
Would it take the cube out? Probably not however it would most definitely have a big hole in it. Look at the Nerada in ST-XI when it was rammed by the Kelvin. It didn't destroy it but it managed to knock it out of action. Fast forward to an era of more exotic weapons and higher powered reactors and who knows... Maybe the cube would become the Borg rectangle... =P
Mind you the Cube is still fully functional when its 80% damaged, dont think the same counts for the Narada.
And even if it is damaged(which is unlikely), Borg drones would be able to fix it pretty fast. Think of those drones as lower-class mindless Data.
You are forgetting something: the Defiant's warp core. If the anti-matter core of the Defiant blew inside the cube after ramming it, wave by-by to the Borg
I think worf in first contact thought this was it, we are finished so at least try to ram a hole in them, as for the effectiveness no one can say, but the cube had probably taken hundreds if not thousands of weapon impacts so i would think it would not do much at all.
Heres a better question. What would've happened to the Cube in Best of Both Worlds if the Enterprise had gone to warp into the path of the Cube as Riker was going to do before Data stopped him?
Interesting question. The Galaxy class was approx 5,000,000 metric tons. The kinetic energy of that at warp impacting anything would surely obliterate it. Depends just how resilient Borg materials and shielding is, assuming that they could actually catch a cube at warp to ram it.
Although it could make an effective weapon, a warhead with a mini warp drive if thats possible goes to warp at a cube that is at sublight speeds.
I think the main consideration should be the mechanics of their warp drive. If space warps around the ship then the borg ship would warp around them unaffected as they passed through. If it reduces the ships mass to allow for its speed then the kinetic impact might not be that great. If it works be spatial compression and expansion then the borg ship would hit the enterprise and i think that would work like a conventional impact and possibly quite devastating however space is moving not the ship and I don't know if that changes how collisions would work: maybe the borg ship would be crushed in the spatial compression...
A very interesting question and I suppose the answer is dependent on your view of warp travel.
also you have to realize that trekkers will consider it a lot more than a director. They will see it as a plot device or special effect.
Ya sounds about right. All i know is i wish i cld see it in action (or a conventional collision for that matter)
We have engaged the Borg
Also, your models and effects are of particularly outstanding detail. Good job fellas, keep it up.
Sector 001...
Good view!
