That's because it's not Sins. It's a new game called Stellaris hence the title.

Does this mean the patch for STA3 (SOSE) is on hiatus?

from their posts it sounds like they are committed to at least one big final patch, but stellaris opens up alot of new avenues of innovation

Nope. TFF is still in progress. Max and the team are discussing ideas for the next project, which we've obviously already decided will utilise Stellaris as a platform. These are teasers.

TFF will likely be the last great hurrah for Armada 3. We'll be ending with a bang. ;)

Only a little work had been done on TLY and much of it has already made its way into TFF.

That said, without confirming anything I'll say that some of what we envisioned for TLY may be realised in our next project.

so TLY will be an addon like the TMP addon for SOA2?

NO MORE QUESTIONS! *slap*

Seriously, there are pretty much no details to give so far. We're just experimenting with what we can do with Stellaris at this stage.

Hey OrionSlaver,

Have you and the team heard that the lawsuit against Axanar is going to be settled, and guidelines released? Would you be willing to consider revisiting the Axanar mod at some point, even if you switch to another game? I was really looking forward to playing in that era.

Secondly, just a comment. I can see why Stellaris is appealing for an ST mod. I don't like the game as much as I'd hoped, but I'd be willing to try it out again with such a mod.

The axanar mod is not being continued as they have all moved on from it.

We are aware of the situation regarding the Axanar film. For an explanation of the stance we've taken on the Axanar: Strategic Operations mod, see the A:SO page here: Moddb.com

I honestly haven't played Stellaris yet, so I have no opinion there. I have noted that it has gained enthusiasm from some corners and is conceptually probably as close to a Sins 2 as we're likely to get.

Those left somewhat underwhelmed by Stellaris should remember that the STA3 team has never settled for simply giving stock games a thin Star Trek veneer. As Armada 3 has done with Sins, players can expect fundamental changes in the way Stellaris is played.

Just don't set your expectations too high for the Yorktown, man. If we do end up slotting her in somewhere we'll have to scale her accordingly, both in terms of size and firepower. The Yorktown was very old when the Connie was brand new. A nearly 200 year old ship is not going to be a formidable presence in any sense, no matter how pretty she is.

We like to stay focused on one particular period, as we have (mostly) with Armada 3. PRECISELY when in the timeline the Stellaris mod will be set hasn't yet been decided, except that we will probably be focusing on some time during The Lost Years (wink, wink).
