If you haven’t played 2007’s most immersive and atmospheric shooter, or you’re back for replay, this mod is for you. This is the world of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. like you’ve never seen before, with updated graphics and added functionality that don’t change the original story or gameplay. The game hasn’t been changed beyond recognition, but rather enhanced while preserving the core elements that made it the unique experience it is.
I am releasing this application as I have found that it may help with crashing and performance issues just like"out of ram" with Stalker-SOC, particularly when using the larger MOD some like the complete,OL09,10 and so on .The utility was originally programmed and released by MadBoris, for the game Supreme Commander. I just have simply tweaked the program to work with Stalker-SOC(for all versions). It is a good practice to specify large-address-aware for 32-bit applications (such as Stalker-SOC), by using the linker flag /LARGEADDRESSAWARE, *even if the application is not intended for a 64-bit platform*, because of the advantages that are gained at no cost. (Info From Microsoft) That is what this utility does; it adds makes Stalker-SOC 'large-address-aware'. However. you also need to enable the '3gb switch' (except in Vista or win7 64 bit).
Background info: Regardless of the amount of physical memory in your system, Windows uses a virtual address space of 4 GB, with 2 GB allocated to user-mode processes (for example, applications) and 2 GB allocated to kernel-mode processes (for example, the operating system and kernel-mode drivers). On systems that have 1 GB or more of physical memory, these two startup switches (see below), can be used to allocate more memory to applications (3 GB) and less memory to the operating system (1 GB). This additional virtual address space helps reduce the amount of memory fragmentation in the virtual address space of the Exchange information store process.
Credits: The genius of MadBoris, for programming this utility.
Me, just for tweaking it for use with Stalker-SOC!
