When Irrational Games developed the expansion pack The Stetchkov Syndicate for SWAT 4, they (evidently) had planned to implement speech recognition into the game.

In fact, they did implement it in a working condition, with very basic commands. Unfortunately, for unknown reasons they never finished it, and disabled it for release.

Simply by setting a flag in a config file, speech recognition can be enabled in SWAT 4: The Stechkov Syndicate, which will allow you to command your squad, albeit with very basic and exact commands.

Eg. for ordering officers to fall in, one must say "Fall in". Nothing else is recognized.

Furthermore, gameplay-wise it was never completed either, and speech recognition allows things not intended by the gameplay.

For example, with speech recognition, officers can be ordered to cuff uncompliant suspects or hostages.

And things like sending reports to TOC or yelling at suspects/hostages to comply still had to be done the old fashioned way, by pressing a key, and let the voice over do it for you.

This mod aims to rectify all this, and adds a much more natural way of interacting with officers. Eg. to order officers to fall in, you can say "Fall in", "On me", "This way", "Follow me", etc.The mod also allows players to send reports to TOC and order suspects/hostages to comply, using their voice.

Initially, these were the only changes. But soon I started changing things I didn't like, and adding more features, and it kind of became a mod that improves the overall experience of SWAT 4.

Here's a few of the things the mod also changes/adds:

  • Officers will ask player to repeat if what the player said was not recognized.
  • Officers equip optiwands much faster, and reports suspects while the wand is still under the door, rather than after.
  • The player can be the thrower when breaching a room. Officers will wait for the player to throw a grenade.
  • Fixed AI officers unable to deploy more than one lightstick each.
  • Doors can be locked, and officers can be ordered to lock doors.
  • Officers can be ordered to pick up multiple pieces of evidence, or ordered to cuff all suspects in sight.
  • Multiple suspects/hostages can be reported at once to TOC.
  • Added modern screen resolutions to the settings menu.
  • Plus more.

English Windows operating system.
Clear american/english accent. I'm sorry, but a thick french accent just isn't going to cut it. Try speaking like a newscaster. That type of speech usually works well for speech recognition.
Microsoft .NET Framework 4.0 (For the installer and launcher).

A problem preventing the installer from running on 32-bit operating systems has been located and fixed.
If the installer crashes or otherwise doesn't start on your computer, re-download the mod and re-try.

Thank you.

(If it's not working, it might be because the update hasn't been authorized yet. Try again another day).

The executable closes itself after a few seconds, doesn't even show up... Ran as administrator, in compatibility (XPsp3), no luck. .NET framework 4.0 installed.
Is there a possibility to do a manual install somehow? I'd be glad even to edit any config/grammar files myself for shouting at terrorists and hostages or reporting them using my mic, that would totally separate gameplay and "voiceplay", making the game even more enjoyable

Please run the installer, then press Windows Key + R, and type "eventvwr.exe" (without the quotes), and post any logs related to the installer under "Windows Logs" -> "Application" (Usually the top few).

Tried Microsoft .NET Framework Repair Tool which surprisingly tells me it's not able to "complete the repairs on my computer"

Try right clicking the file, select Properties and click "Unblock". If that doesn't work, try disabling your anti-virus.

(Windows 7 Starter) Unblock is nowhere to be found in File properties dialog. I've set full control permissions for all groups and users visible though. After disabling the antivirus (Comodo FreeIS), the file keeps closing after a few seconds with the same errors in eventvwr. Maybe I'd have better luck with a clean Windows installation...

Try right clicking and running it as admin.

Tried running as admin again... No visible results, same behavior and same errors as before. One of the errors keeps pointing at C:\Win\System32\kernelbase.dll, which could actually be the problem core. Is it related to .NET?

Try installing the latest full .NET framework Microsoft.com

Also post the full error report from the Event Viewer.

Update: After running the offline .NET framework installer from the link above and rebooting, "SWAT4XSRIInstaller_19122013_2156.exe has stopped working."

Eventvwr log here: Pastebin.com

Thanks for all the tech support so far though :) I surely wouldn't be able to make it work only by myself...

Please exit Fraps, then try again.

If that doesn't work, put the installer in its own separate folder, then download and extract this zip into that same folder and re-run the installer.

Copied the dll files and the setup executable into C:\S4XSRI\, ran as administrator. The setup executable shows up in taskmgr, eats up some memory until ~15MB and closes. Then a window appears telling me the application could have not been installed correctly, offering me to repeat this process, which ends up with the same results the previous "incorrect" installation did.
The event viewer reports look the same like before to me... Filedropper.com

Turned out the mod had issues with installing and running on non-x64 OS versions (and Win7Starter). The x86 installer should be up soon. Thank you again, kind sir!
