“What would happen if we applied Earth 2150 to Homeworld?” -- Slipstream: The Price of Freedom is just that. Or, at least, was supposed to be just that. What started as a multiplayer combat simulator, ended as the first entry into the Slipstream universe.

Myself and the guys at SRI have been working hard to push TPOF v2.0 out to you guys...Here's a bit of an update on our progress.

Hello All!

we have been working hard, well, I have been working hard on getting TPOF tested and assembled for use. Currently the internal Build up is a v1.95.5777 and will begin to put out Release Canadates to beta testers, which i will be PM'ing people of interest and asking them to test TPOF out. If you want, you can save me the extra step and just toss me a message asking to test the RC's when they come out.

We also ran into some problems during the build up between 1.73.4556 and 1.85. It appears that the newer version completely broke Mac OS X compatibility. So, i spawned two seperate versions, one for the Windows Platform, and one for the OS X platform. Unfortunately due to the port to OS X, a lot of newer features in TPOF will not work in OS X, including the new shaders by CnlPepper, and the part of the new high-definition Main Menu. (yeah I figured out how to make it so the 800x600 backgrounds didnt scale up, so whatever resolution you run, you'l use the 1600x1200 backgrounds, sweet huh?)

Also, I would like to clear something up. Because TPOF is not stock homeworld 2, it wil require a more decent computer. This is why there will be minimal system requirements for each Operating System. It gets annoying when people are complaining of a lag when their computer is junk. So, hopefully that problem will be addressed. But, the lag that appears in the older versions of TPOF is slowing being conquered. So, hopefully TPOF will ship out nice and clean.

Sadly, this bit of news must come last. I have been developing Slipstream: The Price of Freedom almost non-stop for a year now, and homeworld 2 is about to the end of her lifespan. So, i must regret to say that i think this will be the final version of TPOF. I'll still offer support and (hopefully not) make patches where necessary. But i think Myself and the rest of SRI want to get our hands on a different Project, probably with the Half-life 2 Engine, Source. However, i was thinking of doing a prequel for TPOF in the homeworld 2 engine, althought i don't know at the moment. So, stay tuned for further developments!
