Continuing an issue noted by kyubbi67 in the comments section. Initial reply chain is as follows:

I wanted to make a quick comment to perhaps alter the mod maps. I feel, for the playstyle Sins offers, that the hyperspace lanes on the mod maps -need- to be -much- shorter. The gravity around the planets sometimes forces ships to get lost in Dark Space around the planet chasing fighters that were stuck out there since their fighters got stuck out there. Not sure if anyone else has experienced it but one map essentially caught two of my Supercaps this way. Sucks that I can't move them since they move an inch an hour in dark space.

This is a rather good, though disturbing, point that you bring up. In truth, we purposely made hyperspace capable fighters not decay after the host dies, to try and emulate that feeling somewhat. Due to this I must ask, did this occur after the original host died? If so, I have an alternate solution; I will move to implement decay rates for all fighters so this no longer occurs.

Yes, more so they got stuck oddly enough right after they make the first pass at the Republic Mandator-II ship then get stuck in dark space with most of my fighters. Then the super caps run after those fighters as well. I do greatly enjoy that idea of the fighters staying around, perhaps with slow decay as the fighter loses fuel and such. Though it's not fun when you jump to an undiscovered planet and have to wait 5-6 minutes to issue any orders to those ships again. Or lose them in dark space.

Sorry hadn't noticed this, been away from the computer. The fighters were I believe all X-wings, maybe a few Y-wings, some Rebel fleet jumped in with a lot of fighters and I didn't keep track. I've been trying to get the bug to repeat, no avail so far. The map was on the Clone Wars - Republic Start in which on the fourth planet out on both sides my ships somehow knocked themselves into Dark Space. Chasing fighters or really small ships that somehow end up there.

X-wings and Y-wings; that pretty much confirms my thoughts. Thanks again for this report; I'll get a fix for this done and include it in the upcoming hotfix.

UPDATE: OK I made a new game on Chiss Ascendency and played Republic. Sent a Mandator out to a new planet and assigned fighter squads and all 20 of them spawned in Dark Space. All 20! D: repeated it successfully with the second Mandator. This is a very odd bug since the Executor SDD doesn't spawn them out there. Maybe something is wrong with the Mandator spawning and with the rest of the ships? Might be the reason they're out in dark space.

Mandator? I could have sworn I updated that thing's hangar points... HOLY COW, something got absolutely borked with the Mandator's model; the thing has no hardpointing at all, and the shield mesh is baloney! This should have never gotten through testing as it's been like this for 8 months!

Yea. I'd also suggest looking into the Acclimators. At least for the Republic, having even five of them in a small area causes some FPS issues when showing the model. I made 50 cuz it was a fun thing to do and now the game can't be played scrolled in at all xD

I have no idea why the Accalamator is causing FPS drops, though I have an idea I will attempt with the next hotfix/patch; haven't had time to get it out the door.

An update on things just randomly appearing in Dark Space, not sure what caused these random ships to be there, but Pirate Ships of nuetral garrisons, at least for the Sith Defense/Offense maps, are now appearing in Dark Space when I discover them and have a ridiculous range for whatever reason.
