Silhouette - Shattered Mind mod for Half-Life 2

"You wake up, look around you. Where are you? You look around once more. You're in a small, dingy room covered in dirt and grime. There is a speaker in the top right hand corner of one wall. On the floor, a metal bed frame without a mattress. Also, a bucket and some milk cartons. Opposite your bed, a door. What are you doing here? Then, a faint beep. The door opens, to reveal a figure standing in the opening. Suddenly, you remember everything."

Like every other mod, Silhouette claims to break boundaries in gaming not broken before. This is something which we hope to live up to, however unlikely the possibility. In the mod, you play a mysterious schizophrenic prisoner without a name on his journey to escape the harsh laws of 2012. Of course, your lack of sanity is likely to get in the way. Should you start to get carried away, chances are your somewhat aggressive hallucinations will start to take effect. At that point, you have nothing to do but run from your fears.

However, this particular form of schizophrenia has its perks (although they are likely to decrease your ability to cope with the situation). You are able to focus your mind, increasing your reaction times (in other words, an excuse for the inclusion of bullettime). You can sense when an enemy draws near. Make surprisingly accurate assumptions as to what goes where. Or let your schizophrenia completely take hold of yourself and run wild. These are just some of the abilities which your shattered mind has unlocked.

Silhouette will feature a whole new set of NPCs, weapons and environments. Better still, you won't have to worry one bit about realism. You will be given the chance to explore downtown, fighting off Police from every direction. Start a fight in a pub, and go head to head with the "Town Brick". Hack a hefty axe through the forehead of a guard, if you must. However, don't get carried away, because before long you'll be trapped in a world of fear, inhabited by the mysterious figures of the past.

There are also plans for some multiplayer action as well. This will include deathmatch (Insanity and special powers are available), Hunt (Every player plays against one super-powerful "Target", who is the only one with the powers of insanity), and Delusional Survival (Where the players are suffering joint delusions, and must work together to survive as long as possible) gamemodes.
