Here's how I got Sebastian working with SteamPipe:
1. Open its gameinfo.txt file and replace the SearchPaths section with the one for MINERVA: Metastasis from pastebin.com/7htcfkZP
2. Rename maps / background01.bsp to something else in order to suppress the "UTIL_SetModel: not precached" error.

Here's a functioning gameinfo.txt for this. For some reason, the background map crashes, however. I haven't figured out why yet, so just rename or delete the background map and you can play the game without a problem.

Aparently there isnt a steampipe fix for ep1. Its only for hl2 and for ep2

Maybe I've come up with a fix that will help. These are notes to myself on this mod...
This one is resisting all efforts to be a working mod. It won't play as an out-of-the-box mod, but it won't play with the VPK added either. (Time passes.) This finally worked after I imported a few GCF files and folders. Barney disappeared once but his floating weapon told me where he was and he lost his voice another time, but I got it all re-assembled except for having to use a few noclips and map flips. I also lost the ability to get into the basement level storeroom to retrieve the red wheel for opening the sub-level access gate.I also got rid of all the purple checkerboards, but a couple graphical ERRORS still pollute some areas -- more on that to come later.

this is the only ep1 mod ive seen i thought there would be alot of mods for ep 1 but i guess theres only one

I agree with some others here. There's nothing original at all going on in this mod. Basically they've re-created HL2 Episode 1 and simply re-arranged the elements. Hell, they've even used the same puzzles which is really silly. What's the point in adding a puzzle that everyone knows the solution to? They've already completed these puzzles in HL2 Ep1. I get the feeling they added the puzzles just because they thought they should have puzzles in their mod but never bothered to sit down and actually…
