Rise of the Reds – or ROTR for short – improves upon the C&C Generals formula while also adding its own distinct elements to it. Most notably, the mod adds two completely new factions, the tank-heavy Russian Federation and the defence-oriented European Continental Alliance. In addition, the three original factions China, USA and GLA have been greatly expanded and redesigned in a variety of ways, with several new units, buildings, powers and abilities to explore and combine in your in-game tactics.

I like how this mod gives the player more options without taking anything significant away from the original game, opening up a ton of tactical options that were previously unavailable. Despite this, it still feels relatively balanced and retains the charm of the original game.

The mod has conformed to the general theme of the original factions and expanded on them in some cases. Each of the 5 factions feel distinctly unique.

Its not perfect. There are some issues & bugs, but they are minor and some of which can be attributed to engine restrictions.

Not being able to play any of the generals in the mod is a bit of a downside, but one can always launch the original game for that. If 2.0 comes out with replacement generals to use and some minor, but rare bugs are fixed regarding the AI, I'll be upgrade this to 10.

Well worth playing though, its a definite improvement over vanilla in terms of gameplay.
