Description

Finally, we now have the new ranged units for Rise of Kings!

Blue: mounted cranequins; red and green: self-explanatory.

Rise of Kings Wiki entry: "Mounted javelineers often serve as a cross between light to medium cavalry, armed with javelins that can pierce light sheet metal and flesh, making them deadly missile counters for light cavalry. Several mounted Cranequiniers, if lucky, can easily kill a knight without suffering a scratch, although they will not fare as well as they would if confronted by crossbowmen, foot archers or mounted bowmen, such as the elite Palace Gamekeeper cavalry. Yet, to think of them being as good as horse archers would be totally mistaken - these units are slower and have far worse range, yet what they do, they do it well. "

So far, the crossbow cavalry are working quite well, although in future I think a revision of the attack animation might be required, and the jinetes for the Spanish and the Moors might need a new running animation. But the gist of it - the javelin and crossbow cavalry - are all mostly complete.

In response to pachenko: yes, the cranequins do fire from the side. We tried to give them attacks from either the left or right, but it just did not work out - sometimes the unit would seem to attack from the right, but the salvo would fire the other way. We had no choice but to create this animation where the horse would flop to its right, then fire. I might fix this animation sooner or later.
