Prepare to be thrown back in to the not-so empty corridors of the Von Braun, where she awaits your arrival...
Remember Citadel is a faithful reboot of the hit video-game System Shock 2™ in the Source Engine. Our Goal here is to recreate the atmosphere and level design of the Von Braun and completely enhance it. We are shooting to make it the nasty monster-ridden ship it was always meant to be with as much detail as possible.
You expect this to be the game you knew and feared?
Be prepared to change your pants one last time.
Currently we need some help:
Our team isn't exactly large (3 people to be exact) and we aren't professionals in our line of work, so we need a bit of help if you want to see this come to life. Things we need a bit of help on are textures, and level design. Things we REALLY need help on are modeling, sound design, and programming, so PLEASE help!
It's very unsure at this point what exactly will be needed, but I can say for a fact that it will require Source SDK Base 2013 Singleplayer. It may also require the need for System Shock 2 on Steam (sorry GoG users) down the road, in order to prevent some kind of infringement, whether the end product is similar or not.
This project is being done for free as a personal and noncommercial project for the current System Shock 2™ community and is intended not to replace, but enhance the video game. It is ensured that no assets or code from the original game are used in the making of said project. If there is any infringement detected by Star Insurance or Electronic Arts, please inform me at email@example.com and the problem will be taken care of or the project will be removed completely.
That's right, development has been started back up since it's Summer, school is over, and I have free time. So instead of boring you with details of why I stopped, let's get to the real news!
I got some help!
As it looks right now, I have 2 mappers, and hopefully a programmer to help me out.
These people alone should make the development go a bit more smoothly.
As always though I could use mappers, modelers, texture designers, sound editors, and programmers.
Development Order and Style has changed.
To help the fact we only have a couple people working on the mod, I decided to ease up the early development stages quite a bit. This might seem like the easy way out, and you are correct, but again we need help. What we decided to do was completely rid of the models (and most likely textures) for the time being.
-Hopefully prevent lawsuits (though I don't think insurance companies care about games)
-Prevent the wrong idea ("This game is using the same models!?!")
-Bring a higher quality (Nothing says quality like Dev textures!)
-Make it easier on us because the models are HUGE and scaling them down was weird looking (we know you had you eye on hugging that big hybrid!)
Things going on right now.
Right now I am personally searching for more people to fill our job positions and on the side teaching people how Source and Hammer works.
I will however, get started on the MedSci 1 remake.
The team and I will make sure to keep you people updated.
It's great to be back.
