I've miss the atmosphere which is shown in the first teasers which where made whith source engine. This is not really cry engine 3!? Doesn't look like. XRay or even Source looks much better than that what I can see in the actual video.

Why is this on CryEngine3 or 2(can't tell the difference)? Was there an engine change I didn't read?

Too much motion blur, too much muzzle flash. Can't really say too much about the rest of it as it's pre-alpha.

@JHunter, Thanks for the feedback, I totally agree. Muzzle flash will be replaced when we put the custom weapons ingame. I should probably turn off motion blur anyway since my card is so bad; there'll be a nice config file and everything.

@Icedecknight @Shirk, yes, it's for CE3 now. It's just an easier codebase and toolset. But the alpha is still a noncommercial project...depending on its reception and our ability to replace sample assets, we'll see about making it a commercial endeavor later. But Ansgar and I would never price it in a way that is unreasonable for any of our core fanbase!

Cheers guys.

I honestly don't know what position you were in to abandon source and change over to CE3, but I don't think that's worth commenting on.

I just find this kind of footage disorienting for the time being. When it came to the teaser we were looking at some great level design paired with great atmospheric qualities. I can understand that this is an alpha but I just don't see what can be taken from this as a follower, it's just unwatchable.

I mean first it was a switch to ogre, and then practically no progress was heard from it until now, and now that you're jumping in to CE3 with both feet, it's kind of a drastic change. Not to sound harsh, I think it's always nice to get a news update on a mod that's been dead in the water for a long period of time, and I hope it all goes well for you in the end.

always nice to see progress, but i can't lie this was pretty hard to watch. and it made me a bit nauseous half way through. have to agree that motion blur and the flash are far too exaggerated hope those can be changed manually in the settings, the blur at least.

good luck and hope to see something like 'The lower Depths' at some point. now that was amazing!

Blegh, I'm with the guys above that motion blur makes me feel pretty sick.

The map looks extremely blocky, and the hands on the view model look tiny.

@everyone complaining about them dropping Source

Have you ever gotten a Source level to the point these guys had them? It's hard. Not just on the level designers, but the people creating the assets too, it's the hardest engine to use, with the hardest pipeline to get content into, and the least optimized. The point they were at, the only options were really either switch engines, get a Source license (far too expensive) or drop the project completely.

@guys,
As said, the project has shifted focus. We'll be designing awesome levels once we finish prototyping the AI and weapons. All constructive criticism is definitely welcome, however also remember that we haven't got very far in development.

@JHunter, it's not even an alpha yet. It's a gameplay prototype. We're hoping to open up the design process to immediate, valuable feedback, and at the same time provide everyone with the current status of the (very unfinished) demo. People have been asking for media, and so we decided to show what's been done so far. More videos coming soon, probably we'll fix everything we can.

@Saxon, this map will likely not be ingame. The player model is the default CE3 one so far. Motion blur will be turned off for sure.

@Dr.Goupyl unfortunately, I can't do anything about the lag until I get a new card, or someone else to take videos :D.

Thanks for the feedback guys!

I fell sick, seriously. Way too much blur and shaking. The Npc's seems unspotable, but that might just be the FPS. Maybe a little light muzzleflash like effect would make it easier

Who uploaded this? I don't see any AI demonstration, I'm sorry Kevin. I have no idea how you came up with this crackpot idea to post something like this. This video is really hard to watch. I put much effort into making nicely angled screenshots and took my time to write songs for each video I was posting here. Do you really think this is professional what you are doing?

It's a lifesign. I think CrySDK is a good choice for Raindrop, though I see you have a lot to do, too. I think people will be surprised by your next updates. I hope you find the help you need to complete this project. If you need my help in any way, I can do some concepts. Always liked this project and its atmosphere. GL!

Description

This is our prototype central courtyard. Sorry about the framerate; as said, I'm developing for CE3 on an ATI Radeon HD5450. But I promise you /our/ code doesn't lag at all, and we're moving stuff out of scripts as I speak into optimized C++ :D.

Cheers!
