Just awesome, gives a good plus to the atmosphere. Also you made it do to a real drop, effect, which is just amazin!
This is definitely the least-excellent piece of media so far. The lighting flashes are completely unconvincing because there are no shadows.
On the other hand, though Source can do them with a projected texture performance might be atrocious. :-(
I have been using projected textures in my mod for a while now.
(i have now 4 projected textures in lab-map + flashlight.)
They won't eat FPS much, if map is leak free and optimized.
Instead i have noticed, that reflective mirror eats much more FPS, especially if you have multiple mirrors in your map.
I agree with varsity, but regardless, its still cool
well I really like the atomasphere. Also its really realistic how when you see a light flash it corresponds to the thunder which follows after, becuase light travles faster than sound and its pretty awesome :) i see no shadows but i do understand how its WIP other than that it looks awesome!
To bad you can't write up some static lighting for the map.
Look in to Render Distant lights, The ones that Cast Shadows from the EP2 Engine

now I have seen while looking through the vrad code that you can compile directional lighting into a seperate lightmap... it would take some coding but you could work it so that, when ur lightning strikes, your directional light increases where your ambient light drops.

The rain sounds started to bother me toward the end, maybe because I was paying so much attention to it...
But at one point it sounded a lot like water in a sink or tub as opposed to rain. (About 1 minute in is when I noticed it)
Not sure if anyone agrees with that.
SICK! comments are already flooded but wow did you guys do a amazing job. Like Bloodvayne says the thunder is awesome! the fog effects are absolutely amazing! The atmosphere even in the video feels stunning! I really think you guys can beat stalker. My only question is that is this mod has predetermined routs or can you walk wherever and get quests and stuff?

Looks great, however I do have a suggestion. Assuming that all of your materials include bumpmaps, placing the lightning flashes on one side of the map, instead of over the whole map, should allow the bumpmaps to add some depth to the textures, thereby elimating the "mat_fullbright" look. Even if you can't have the statics cast shadows, this would go a long way to enhancing the realism.

wow, that is realy a nice video! plain great atmosphere, but:
add more randomnes to the storm and thunder. like a lightning strike near you (light and thunder at the same time more rockier), the lightning a bit further of is already superb but how about some realy rooling ones without any light, or just illuminated without thunder. and oc in a not repetetive order :)
its already realy cool but that would give it the edge

very interesting way of having a highly detailed, open environment while obscuring stuff far away (with fog), creating a high graphic standard and a feeling of isolation and tension, but not sacrificing performance! (at least I hope that is what you are doing because my computer is old :D)
Oh, and also, great job actually delaying the flashes until after the thunder sounds, people tend to forget to do that!
