The Quake 4: HardQore modification brings classic, fast paced, thumb blistering side scrolling action to the next generation. Forget thinking, plots, ammo, or boring puzzles, this is 110% non stop in your face run n' gun slaughter. Strap on advanced weaponry and take on the Strogg invasion. If your a fan of classic action games such as Contra & Metal Slug; then HardQore is what you have been waiting for. The fast paced action of Quake just became more intense.
FEATURES:
-Classic 2d run 'n' gun action in a full 3d environment.
-Arm yourself with Quake4 weapons modified and enhanced for 2d game play.
-Use melee weapons such as the chainsaw gauntlet to tare the enemy to pieces.
-Controls optimized for 2d game play using either the keyboard or joystick.
-No reloading, unlimited ammo, or thinking, just run & shoot.
-Use the environment against the enemy and destroy anything possible.
-New player models, including female.

In an unplanned move, work has begun on HardQore 2! HQ2 will not be on Quake 4, but instead Doom3. The mod size and scale will also be much smaller and less ambitious than the original HQ. The HQ/AA team has spent many years working on the Ruiner Mod for Doom 3 and in return have gained enough knowledge and assets to help us create a sequel very fast.
As of today, HQ2 is playing identical to the first one and is already 50% complete. We will be adding more new features to the mod and improvements to the 2d game play over the original HQ. We plan on releasing the first one level build this summer. More info and screen shots are coming soon.
In Other news, the source code for HardQore has also finally been released. You can download the source code HERE. There is also a thread on Doom3world.org with info about the release HERE.

Nice mod! 8/10
I had issues running this mod with my old graphics card Ati Radeon x700 ,but now it works perfect with my new Nvidia GeForce 6800 GS :)
Up to which version should I patch this game before installing the mod? PLS help!
You need the 1.4.2 patch, which you can find here: Quake4.filefront.com
Then install the mod, and his little fix, wich you can find here: Quake4.filefront.com
Then you are ready to go :)

There is a fix for the menu problem here:

Looks like the patch doesn't work. The mod will only load through the mods menu of Quake 4, and then the menu text and cursors are not displayed. The animated background is played, but nothing else happens.
I am using Q4 1.4.2., with the beta and the patch.
Is this working for anyone else?

Well I like that mod its cool, Its third person and it actully works!
more like I need to follow the news, pure fun indeed, great stuff.
