Long ago, when the word 'Hiigara' rang only as a hollow dream, the kiith of Kharak never imagined they would walk the Path to Victory. But, when they reclaimed their Homeworld and proclaimed themselves 'Hiigaran', they believed they had reached their goal. How wrong they were. 150 years after Hiigaran landfall, conflict rages across the Galaxy... Path to Victory is a multiplayer and skirmish mod for Homeworld 2 that adds new units to both Vaygr and Hiigaran Races as well as enabling the Keepers, Raiders and Kadeshi as playable races.

This makes me think, what if you had HUGE space walls that divided up the map, could create a vastly more tactical feel.

It's a good idea in principle, but the problem with that is the uber game lag you'd get from creating such massive walls. NOT good for non-high end systems.

Walls! And famous big-eared frigates! Aaand walls is the background of the big-eared frigates!!!

Carpet is the best background for a photo! I mean walls...

Nicely done overall, and how walls are positioned? Also – black ring on frigate's nose is teamcolor?

I would LOVE to see you making a map of the HW universe that showed where all these maps where located.

this is a good idea. I think it will not be entirely cannon but i can do my best to build it off the info we have.

There is a guy on Deviantart.com who has a colection of HW canon maps...might be worth checking: Norsehound.deviantart.com

These maps are really, REALLY well done, but they can't be canon. Just because they made by a fan, even if highly skilled and devoted.

well i based my current map off that one, while taking liberties as I saw fit to meet the PTV universe requirements. Unlike HW cannon, PTV also disregards all the remnants of the council races... which is kinda strange as the only races still holding territory are turanics, vaygr, imperial remnant and hiigarans....

the kadeshi are still in hiding (forgotten) and the keepers are out cold until the story begins

I wouldn't have blurred the walls so much. If there's supposed to be a fog, of sorts (like the Ghennah maps), you give the objects in the background a similar color to the empty space of the background.

The asteroids in the background of the Ghennah maps are a little blurred, but more importantly they are a similar color to the rest of the background.

The blurring is to hide my absolutely horrible 2d art skills, not because I wanted to. You have to rememeber this is my second background ever xD

If I could make them less blurred and in focus without making it look crappy, i would =) maybe in a few weeks time I'll be able to do that.

Description

Well, this is a bit of a strange post.

First off, with all the hiigran stuff, why am I posting a raider image?

Simple answer is it looks cool and is the best one I could get on this background despite playing over 30 games on this map today while testing the Hiigaran AI. Yes, that means the Hiigarans are complete save for balance changes.

You can expect a full update on the individual kiith and how the whole race works fairly soon.

For now, enjoy my more or less successful attempt at making 2d art worthy of a HW2 background and look forward to the coming Hiigaran update.

Oh by the way, if you are interested, there were some minor changes to the Raiders in terms of balance, most notably the Brigand loosing the capture ability and becoming vastly less efficient vs. corvettes. You can expect more fine tuning as we get closer to the final Alpha and then Beta release.
