Normandy '44: European Theater combines a higher level of realism with a more elaborate doctrine system, which incorporates almost 50 different military units that took part in the period of Jun-Sept 1944. This spectrum ranges from divisions of free Polish and French units serving under the main allied armies to volunteers from the Eastern Front that served in the German Wehrmacht. This is only a small portion of the doctrine variety however, as we feature numerous well known units of all factions as well. The mod also features numerous new abilities and custom made units each with a completely revamped size and structure. Between custom made units and structures with historically correct skins, Normandy '44 offers over 150 NEW UNITS, making for an almost endless variety of different scenarios and unit actions. Combined these factors provide for an experience unlike any other mod for CoH!

Take a look at the description. The model itself plus texture was made by the game "Men of War" and was kindly donated by the developers. The animations for CoH were done by tiger205.

An IS-2 85mm cannon on a KV-1 chassic. Power and armour. Wonderful.

Actually the IS-2 was armed with a 122mm gun from the start , that gun is the one also used in the T-34-84 model.. Wich happens to be the modified 85mm Flak gun used for AA. Anyway that is a very nice model , you could modify it a bit to make the IS (1) wich is very much like the KV-85, actually allmost the same.. just some armor differences :)

Sorry my mistake, it's an IS-1 cannon not IS-2.

I still don't really like the use of MoW models as it limits creativity and alot of them don't look right in the company of heroes engine.

Justus_T Feb 14 2011 replied:

Why then? I think it's a fine model and fitting well.

Also, I think it really shows the dedication of the devs of this mod by going the extra mile to ask a developer of another game for permission to use their units, all for the betterment of this mod and your gaming experience.

So I'm completely convinced 2.0 will be a masterpiece. These devs rock!

Yes it is from MoW (which I have made clear and made clear we would be using them in some spots)

There are not enough modelers/texturers/uv mappers/animators to go around to get all the new models we have planned into the mod w/o using MoW stuff (at least for now).

You have no idea how many new models we are adding, nor how much we are expanding the mod (which already expanded the game a TON). Would you rather us not add the model/vehicle at all? Because that is option B - to just not add as many new models (which were already coded for and would take even more time to take out than put in)

sweeten2213 Feb 7 2011 replied:

To add to this - the Eastern Front mod took about 3 years to release in adding models in the same way we are adding them (from scratch). They added about 20 or so models (rough guess) which we have in game as well from them.

N44 v2.0 will add, across the factions, 60 or so models to the game. It is a bold attempt to add that many, and we found out how difficult to do. Given a choice to change the plans for each faction/doctrine/sub-doctrine/sub-subdoctrine, or to find alternate ways to get the models faster, we chose the alternative method. Of the 60 or so new models, only 10 or so will be from MoW

sweeten2213 Feb 8 2011 replied:

P3EACE - we talked about this on Relic News Forums. To add to what I said there, our Alpha is also only in an svn network right now, meaning it's sensitive to changes (anyone with the svn can make changes and save them therefore making it VERY senstive material). So that's why it's team members only right now

i dont mind u guys using MOW models, i like the models in MOW and i am wondering, will u guys add the m24 chaffe?

sweeten2213 Feb 8 2011 replied:

Probably not - the Chaffee wasn't really used til mid to late winter of 44-45 and we stay in the summer/fall of 44 (including the divisions chosen, units chosen, etc...)

then change the name it would be more interesting or say that this was from 44 onward or something

If it's 44' specific, it shouldn't include models that were hauled in production/pulled from service prior to that year.

I don't think quantity over quality is the best thing for a mod. EF came out pretty buggy as it was, i'd hate to see the end product of something that's just used copy and pasted materials.

i think its a good idea to use MoW models, as i play both games and can say the models are pretty well done. not only this but by doing so, as they said they can broaden the range of possibility's left to them and even make more extensive variants of the tanks. and as for the "stupid" decision to make the mod as realistic as possible i think its a great idea. look into the "DCM" mod for MoW, not only is it realistic but you can actually decide what date\time-frame\campaign you would like to play. dont like not having certain units even though it would be unrealistic? fine then mod the material yourself. overall i think the mod is very good, and whose to say they wont go into other time-frames when the mod is released? at least give them time to release what they have already been working on before asking for more material or insinuating what they decide to do with there mod is "stupid".

MoW is their username and what are the other russian units other than the mg, AT, AT gun, the SUs, AC and the KVs. I ask this as I see no T-34s or SU-85s
ps I haven't got the mod yet
