This mod aims to recreate the atmosphere of the period of the War of the Grand Alliance, also known as the Nine Years War. The mod will reflect the transition from matchlock to flintlock and from pike to bayonet. There will be a new faction (the Cossack Hetmanate and the Jacobites). The mod will incorporate some units of the Hetmanate TW mod with some changes to reflect the late 17th century.
Unlike their heavily-armoured colleagues from the Polish Szchlacta (nobility), Hussar-Retainers are less armoured or well-equipped. They are recruited from the peasantry, but occasionally include impoverished nobles too. Their relationship to the hussar commanders (Towarycz) is akin to that between a Knight and a Squire in Medieval England, though they do not own their own equipment, which belongs to the hussar-commander. They were not treated as well in the share of the spoils of war, so I'm setting their morale as lower than full Winged Hussars.
I based this unit on the hussar in the rear of the winged hussar in this book about the Battle of Vienna 1683. By the end of the century, some of them only wore a helmet for armour. Bloomsbury.com
