From the Journal of Test Subject #232: 31.21 N, 28.71 W. 2043 AD. It's hard to believe that just fifty years ago people were worried about the water levels rising. I joined the Testing Course Program just a week ago and they brought me to one of these island mountains. Ever since the Combine came they had been sucking up the water and sending it back to wherever they came from. So the water level fell so far that the underwater mountains became islands, then hills, and then finally towering mountains, jutting out of the water like some kind of massive wrecked ship. Then after the Combine were beaten away, this new Aperture corporation went around claiming all these mountains for research. Word was, they were extremely benevolent up until the founder died, and then they built this big robot lady to replace her. Then the tests got worse. The scientists around the place don't seem to know, and that seems odd. I'll just say I feel sorry for the next subject.

Nice trailer. Looks really good. Still can't believe you are doing all this on Portal and not Portal 2. You're doing a really an excellent job on this. I hope to be one of the first to play it when it's released.

This mod looks epic, and has truly come along very nicely, but that back story makes almost no sense, I'd understand if you don't change it, but a homeless woman that never learned to exceed the vocabulary of a 7 - 9 y/o(depending on what age she was when she was brought in for bring your daughter to work day) is more than likely not forming a company in a Combine ravaged world. (I realize Portal two, and therefor this mod is long after Gordon[hopefully] finishes off the Combine, but in all honesty, he only was in Russia, there's a lot of countries)
I'm not attempting to criticize your story line, only taking my obsessive knowledge of the series to help you form a better one that fans of the world can appreciate more, if, by any chance, you'd like the knowledge of a guy that's read all the Wikis related to Valve games and story lines twice I'd be more than happy to help you form a better back story, however, if this is how you want to leave it, that's fine, this mod will still be an epic piece of work, as it has looked to be from the start.
I'm going on a lot of assumptions like these:
1. Chell was a perfectly normally functioning member of society, she just chose not to talk to GLaDOS and Wheatley out of rage;
2. Gordon Freeman and the Resistance liberated Earth during the events of Episode Three and/or after that;
3. Chell was actually Cave and Caroline's illegitimate daughter, and Cave was going insane at the time, so Caroline kept Chell away from him to keep her from getting hurt; therefore keeping her in stasis most of the time.
4. The events of Portal 2 occurred roughly simultaneously with the events of Half-Life 2.
Nah, they didn't. Portal 1, however, took place during, or close to, the events of Half Life. And, since Portal 2 takes place a LONG TIME after Portal 1, there's no way it'd take place during Half Life 2. However, there's always a possibility that either Gordon fails in the end, or is put into stasis to a later date by Gman again, OR... Gordon was never supposed to stop the Combine in the first place. VALVE BETTAH HURRY UP ON HALF LIFE 3 (kidding, sort of, I want a quality product before a rushed one).
Well, they should be done with a quality product by now. It has been 5? years. I do believe however that the events of Portal 2 took place roughly 20 years after Portal and Half-Life and that's what I'm keeping within the canon of this mod.
Well for one :

Pretty much contradicts this: "4. The events of Portal 2 occurred roughly simultaneously with the events of Half-Life"
As far as your story line goes, if those were both true then Chell would still be walking out of the place with the combine, and or ****** off aliens shooting at her.
Regardless, I have incredible doubt Chell could magically figure out all the workings behind a device as complex as the Portal gun by simply using it, let alone find the funds and resources to build it after being the daughter of a scientist who's robot killed all his employees after he died. I mean, if you world was in any state for Chell to start a company, I'm sure that the word got out about everyone in Aperture Science facilities being killed via neurotoxin. I'm not trying to criticize, as I said before, I'm just pointing out there's major flaws in the plot of an otherwise great mod.
