Mirage is a third person action RPG that puts the player into the shoes of two very different characters on opposing sides of a violent conflict. Made for the pc, and utilizing the Source engine, made famous by games like Half Life 2 and Portal, Mirage takes the fast paced action of hack and slash RPG’s, and combines it with a “Final Fantasy” style of storytelling. Utilising the various tools in the Source engines software development kit, Mirage will be a heavily customised modification of Half Life 2: Episode 2.
This is our work in progress for our first level, BeachHead.
As you can see, with the player starting at the bottom with a goal of reaching the top - their objective is clear, and it is easy to get a clear sense of purpose and direction.
This beach will be defended, and getting to the top will naturally take alot more than a leisurely stroll.
We are currently working on:
-Custom Alpha mapped textures for the rock including moss, dirt and sand
-Filling it with various types of vegetation (custom props, naturally)
-A defence wall circling the beach
-Watch towers

nice to see this all set out, cant wait to see it with plants etc!
We are also experimenting with adding the citys sewer sytem nearby, with tunnels etc.
More realism, and maybe some places to hide easter eggs. XD
