The 'Middle Earth Roleplaying Project' aims to recreate J.R.R. Tolkien's Middle Earth in the Creation engine of 'Skyrim'. The player will be plunged into Middle Earth near the end of the Third Age, not long before the War of the Ring breaks out.

so i presume after some trigered event it will change into industrial isengard? Naise. Also first.
What a positively voted "first" comment? :O
BLASPHEMY! Burn it with FIRE!
*comes with ents*
@SgtCbb: Just ONE triggered event? Please, we can do better then that ;)
You ****. Aw yiss
This is very pretty
It looks great, but could we get a picture of the Orthanc itself?
That wouldn't be fun though would it :P
Orthanc model is currently a placeholder, we don't have a final HD version yet.
Still - It wouldn't be as fun, eh.
Six words and three dots: Epic.
You have 4 dots there. :)
I'm sure you mean five ;)

My computer will burn with so much vegetation.
That would solve the problem at the same time, Isengard style: too much vegetation? Just burn it all! :P
AMAZING!!!
Cool! more pictures please, this waiting killing me:)
@nicked99: yeah, trust me the current orthanc model looks bad, and furthermore it has terrible textures. However you'll have a fantastic tower in the release, trust us! :)
We put all of our trust and hope into the MERP team! And i don't think it will be possible for you to dissapoint us. :)
"And i don't think it will be possible for you to disappoint us."
Translation: Mess it up, and you are dead! :P
By the way, you should program your main web site, to allow the community to post ideas. And a "+/-" system to permanently have the best on sight. (rated by the community it self) Then you see what you want to keep or leave. I say that because some people have really great ideas, and I'm always impress of it. :)
Well, I don't think the community should be able to decide where this mod is going. There have already been numerous discussions about the implementation of magic and making the outer wall of Minas Tirith black for example. I think it would be for the better to just let the MERP team do what they deem right, since they have a much clearer idea of what should and what shouldn't be implemented and which ideas would and would not be feasible.
Next to that they already tried a system of like kind with the Oblivion version, where a good portion of the content was made by the community (I believe, can't quite remember exactly), and we all know how that turned out ;)
That doesn't mean that community input isn't important though. It's just that I think that MERP shouldn't be too heavily influenced by it.
That's why they are suggestions and idea's. :P There's nothing wrong with the mod team being interested in what their fans have to say.
Well there's always the possibility of sub-mods for those with different tastes (e.g. sub-mod that does white Minas Tirith for those that want it, etc).
@leo11048811: The community does post lots of ideas, but not enough I feel that we need to create an "idea voting system" of any kind. We do read your posts/comments, and when we see an idea we like, we may pursue it. And just because an idea is popular with the majority doesn't always mean its a good idea imo (but then oftentimes I'm in the minority view of many issues :P).
Yes, I don't mean: "If an idea is liked by a lot of people you HAVE to implement it" but just be aware of it (and possibly implement it, if you like it too). The "like" system would be a mean to easily differentiate the stupid ideas (like a pink Minas Tirith : yeah I know, I'm inspired :P ) from the interesting ones (you stay the best filter). In the case that I have, so far, always been agree with your vision, it would be more like a generator of potentially good ideas that you haven't already think about. :)
I'm agree, there are not enough ideas to create an "idea voting system" for now, but if you decide to try one, I would be happy to develop it! :) (php+javascript/ajax: web format)
Is it the one from Oblivion MERP? I thought it was kind of small. I think I saw a WIP Barad Dur model on your forums, it looked awesome! Will your new Orthanc be similar in quality?
i'm sure our orthanc will definitely be top quality, yes :)
try walking, lol. not so small then :D
the leaves look slightly flat
Well someone's a critic >_>
Okay i guess i should stop criticizing (it is harder then it looks to make trees...i tried and i failed badly)
If you hadn't noticed, Leaves are pretty flat in real life. :P
oh snap!
I really wished I had Skyrim on my computer right about now (I'm following it for when I do get it)
aaaw it's so nice to see such wonderful nature. And it's all going to burn. How nice. ^^
Dayum... I need to update my rig!
Amazing! So far, Your guys' work makes LOTRO look like a hopeless attempt at portraying Middle Earth (And I absolutely adore LOTRO). I can't wait until it finally gets finished! or at least the Rohan release is complete!
Amazing work!
