LiLDEZ-MVP Feb 21 2012, 10:17am says:

I have some questions..... if we are playing as a hobbit in the place of Frodo, then how would we be in the battles like Helm's Deep and at Pelenor Fields? Will the gameplay be like the movie? Switching to Frodo and Sam then Merry and Pippin and then to Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli? Or will that be in the questline as other races where the player is in the White Council?

+1 vote     reply to comment
Merong
Merong Feb 21 2012, 11:18am replied:

There is the Ringbearer questline in which you play Frodo (and only Frodo).
In the White Council questline you will play a new character who gets main quests from the White Council (Elrond, Galadriel and Gandalf) and you'll be sent to some of the battles (mostly your choice).
And there is the Free Roaming mode in which you don't have a Main quest and can do whatever you want.
Events like battles will happen at their set date, so if you arrive one day too late the battle will be over.

names_are_useless Feb 21 2012, 1:52pm replied:

As Merong said, there are these three "gameplay modes" planned (Ringbearer, White Council, and Free Roam). Hopefully all 3 will include all the major events in Middle Earth (including the major battles), so the player should have the option to take part in them ...

However, as the Ringbearer I would strongly stress that the player should focus on their task of destroying the Ring! Did Frodo take part in any of the major battles? No! He had a quest to take part in. He holds the fate of Middle Earth in his hands! He has no time to get side-tracked with all these major events!

Besides, a Hobbit fighting hordes of Uruk-Hai while holding the fate of the bloody world in his hands doesn't feel quite right, now does it?

Great job with the armour. It really looks good. I remembered reading thru one of your discussion long time ago about implementing realistic damage etc into Merp and there was some questions about plate armour being really uber (in real life almost impervious to bow shot arrows, etc). I really wanted to know whether u guys are also gonna be making a version of mail armour for gondor such that plate armour is only accessible for elite units?

that's the fountain/(white)tower guard not the citadel guard helmet (fountain/tower guard are the also tasked with the protection of the steward of Minas Tirith (Denethor if you like)

and the Citadel guard are also the personal bodyguards of the King of gondor or the High-king of the united kingdoms (gondor and Arnor)

anyways; Luv the armor, Cheers :3
